The wedding cake tree, scientifically known as cornus controversa, is a species of flowering plant in the dogwood family.
Native to China, Korea, the Himalayas, and Japan, it is a deciduous tree with several tiers of branches, growing up to 15 meters.
The leaves are 8-15 cm long, ovate, dark green with a gray underside that turns reddish purple in autumn.
This tree is widely grown in gardens and parks in warm climates.
