The yucca cane, whose botanical name is yucca gigantea, is a species of flowering plant in the asparagus family that is native to Mexico and Central America.
Also called spineless yucca, soft-tip yucca, blue-stem yucca, giant yucca, and itabo, it is native to Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and eastern Mexico.
This plant is an evergreen shrub that can grow up to 8-12 m tall and is widely cultivated as an ornamental or houseplant, called simply yucca cane.
Nevertheless, this species is still most widely known in horticultural literature as yucca elephantipes, which is a misnomer.
