This is my entry in the Better Life with Steem, #thebetterlife specifically the #learnwithsteem #USA
Markdown
When I first joined Steem almost 3 years ago, I noticed that post formatting varied a great deal.
Some posts were just collections of words:
Collections of words with no variation or flare. These were very boring and didn’t even have pictures.
Other posts were Bold or even italic
....and some were decorated with pictures;
Others had moving pictures and really grabbed my attention:
I was really motivated to make my posts interesting so I learned that those posters with beautiful formatting of their posts were using a computer language called Markdown. So I learned this language after I joined Steem and it wasn’t until later, that I learned it was a shorter simpler version of a computer language called HTML5.
When I researched Markdown, I found it was invented as sort of a easier and smaller version of the computer language HTML, which is the computer code language underlying the organization and presentation of the text and graphics which create the front-end or webpage of any internet website.
The Steemit Posting application uses a form of Markdown language, and learning Markdown allows to to create interesting format arrangements on your post, such as
Headings or Titles for your page,
Smaller Headings or Titles,
Bolded but not large print, or
Bolded but small print,
Italics Hello
Bold Hello
Or add pictures,
And center pictures,
Or other interesting tricks.

And add credits or sources:
This quote is from source
Or source a picture:
Or to put someone’s words in quotes, like this quote
I ask you to think not what can your country do for you, but what can you do for your country...
I enjoyed learning Markdown, and it stimulated me to learn about other computer languages and other aspects of the internet.
It has been an enjoyable learning experience and I suggest you learn it to make your posts more fun.
