yep, 1999, right before that 2000 switch, me and my friend who ran bulletin board systems in the local area were thinking about portals, the local newspapers thought we were crazy, remember not even youtube had been invested for another six years yet, this was the wild west, the days of internet explorer and netscape and flashing marquee text, star field backgrounds and really really shitty under construction signs - who the F allowed that through in the early days?

i was like a prophet looking for a flock, people thought we were nuts to want to make a ‘remote control for your local area news’ — the news paper only covered us because they wanted to see if we could pull it off, how it worked, sat down with the editor and team and could see that they were nowhere near to a digital offering of their online paper, no way, that would effect their sales, i’d love to see what sales are like these days, full of ads, super skinny, out of date, non realtime. ..

whoa, i just realised this was yesterday, i really am time travelling, yep people this was 18 years yesterday that i had the idea, me and subwolf were gonna build out this cool php based news system, we had these history sections for legacy, gallery of local images even a business section so we knew we could at least sustain ourselves with people jumping onboard because they wanted to be part of the future. it’s funny how something that people don’t understand get’s funded by the same people, i guess they see the bigger picture of relevancy at some point in the future, i guess it’s no different from the early days right now of crypto currency — it’s gonna come in and it’s gonna come in fast.

what with burger king bringing in their own token, you can be sure that companies around the world that sell food, especially fast food are being asked to come up with a proposal or a white paper of how they could do the same, they only have to look at the growth in crypto and they can see that their are portfolios of funds ready for people to start skimming of the top to buy you latest burger or vegan creation, heck, coffee and co-working spots are practically run of crypto in the future, it’s gonna be like sodding bladerunner out there, gotta move a few more meals before you can make that auto payment to the lease holder! :)

hard to remember being 26 with the title computer engineer, seems like a life time away, almost seems like not my life, but i had to put it down here and out onto the blockchain because it’s important to remember where you come from and why. what were the foundation stones that brought you to do today, why do you do what you do and where are you going, has it changed much or are you still on track but with the audience of today — i love the way they were still calling it the world wide web, oh the words of confused people scared of change — it would be another eight years from yesterday until ella would have been born and i had no clue at that time that eventually i would be a father, decades can change your life.

anyway, wanted to share that. i think it’s important to lock away some of that legacy, if i’m gone tomorrow i know a record of this will be found amongst the debris of blockchains that have been interleaved, compacted, stored on the new latest organic bubble memory in the sentiment chipset bracelet you can invest in when the skies are dark with antimatter.

lots of love,
dm0us3 x ;)

Damn! Crazy that it was yesterday too! Glad you're storing memories like this as well as your reflections on them here on the 'chain. <3 My technophile lol

sure, it's always been a thing with me that these little reminders pop back in, makes me re-evaluate, how far i've come, what i learned, how to go about it differently, what i was trying to do versus what i believed it would do!
