Spiritual lesson: Here now is the man who did not make God his stronghold but trusted in his great wealth

The Bible teaches us a spiritual lesson, beatitude is not based on riches. The beatitude has to do with good sense, the love to our neighbor, and the search for peace and truth, which are the most important values in a man. Riches help a lot in the life of man, but if we despise our neighbor and have chaotic and self-destructive behavior, riches only serve to delay our own ruin.
Psalm 52 is dedicated to teaching us that we must choose between two paths, one characterized by arrogance, pride, greed and vanity; and the other for compassion, the fear of God (constancy, devotion, equanimity), meekness and lowliness of heart. The true happiness and wellness, the psalm tells us, belong to those who choose the correct path.
The life of sinners has an end and a retribution explains the Psalm 52:
"You who practice deceit,
your tongue plots destruction;
it is like a sharpened razor.
You love evil rather than good,
falsehood rather than speaking the truth.
You love every harmful word,
you deceitful tongue!
Surely God will bring you down to everlasting ruin:
He will snatch you up and pluck you from your tent;
he will uproot you from the land of the living." Psalm 52:2-5.
Sensible and understanding men find that this is not the right attitude to life:
"The righteous will see and fear;
they will laugh at you, saying,
´Here now is the man
who did not make God his stronghold
but trusted in his great wealth
and grew strong by destroying others!´" Psalm 52:6-7.
Instead, God blesses and prospers the men who love him and seek the path of devotion and mercy (compassion, kindness, gentleness):
"But I am like an olive tree
flourishing in the house of God;
I trust in God's unfailing love
for ever and ever.
For what you have done I will always praise you
in the presence of your faithful people.
And I will hope in your name,
for your name is good." Psalm 52:8-9.
