Over the last two or three months I really wanted to get involved with Libertarian politics. Not because I necessarily think voting is the way to change, but it is a way. I gave my information to the Larry Sharpe for Governor campaign in NY (it being my home state), but never heard anything back. I was doing some lamenting on the Lions of Liberty facebook forum when someone alerted me to Dale Kerns, a Senatorial candidate in Pennsylvania. After digging around, looking at his policies and listening to some of his speaking points, I realized that Dale is legit. He is not just some awful Libertarian Candidate looking to "educate." Of course I opted to help volunteer, and since I enjoy writing I started putting together the newsletter that goes out every week.
Doing this has been highly beneficial as it has forced me to pay more attention to the political policies on all sides. Essentially, I am summarizing Dale's speeches, and rehashing some of his policies, but I also attempt to explain Libertarian values a little deeper. In doing so, I am forced to read more and in turn begin to understand policies deeper than I did before. It is one thing to just read, but when you have to synthesize information for others to read, it truly helps you understand concepts more fully. It has also forced me to follow along with the other candidates (both establishment party candidates), and it only cements my belief in how wrong those parties policies are.
What's the point of this post?
- 1. I encourage you to volunteer to help on campaign, no matter the size. There are a multitude of things you can do remotely to help any given candidate. Get involved and push liberty.
2. Starting shortly after this is posted I will post this week's newsletter, and every Thursday thereafter until November, I will post the Dale Kerns Newsletter. This is an attempt to disseminate information about Dale Kerns for Senate, as well as an attempt to explain some Liberty oriented policy.
3. It's a place holder I can reference back to, so I'm not posting totally random newsletters without any background.
