Coming from a family farm I can tell you these subsides are aimed at factory farms and mega farms. Family farms are hurt by price fixing and these subsides. The pennies we would ever get would go to monsanto for expensive seed since it is illegal to save seed .

I think in this case it is a case of scope and duration, the "trade war" will be short lived and then these subsidies should end. long term subsidies are why we see various market failures in low cost housing, healthcare and higher education.
