The Library of Congress has a project entitled "Chronicling America", which digitizes old newspapers and pamphlets and the like that are primary sources, and it's fun to peruse. It's a project I actually don't mind my tax dollars going to, especially when you compare it to all the evil shit the feds tend to do when they can steal more of your money.
My complaint? They don't do any material made prior to 1777.
If anyone has educational credentials at the universities that have digitized issues of the Pennsylvania Gazette from the early 1700s, and could lend me a bit o' that sweet, sweet access, my arm would itch less.
