I am the writer of the above post and wish to clarify something under notification from my registration board under which I am registered as a psychologist. In the first sentence of the above I make reference to being a counselling psychologist. This statement is seen as misrepresenting my qualifications as I am not endorsed as a counselling psychologist through The Australian Psychological Society. I am a registered psychologist with The Australian Health Practitioners Registration Agency. My role within my daily employment is in providing focused psychological strategies to clients through direct counselling practice. Again, I am not endorsed as a counselling psychologist by The Australian Psychological Society and wish to make it clear that using the term 'counselling psychologist' misrepresents my registration and endorsement.

I would also like to retract some of the black and white statements made in the above blog titled "Empathetic Assassins- And How do you feel about that?". Statements within the article reflecting on the majority of psychologists being misguided in their practice were over-generalisations and misrepresentative of the quality of practice within my profession. They were written in order to open debate on mental health and intended not to cast judgement on practitioners but to keep dialogue going to improve the provision of service. The comments I wrote were misguided and incorrect in their delivery but posted with the intention of improving how psychology and mental health is provisioned in Australia. I apologise for my black and white comments to any reader who took them as literally as they were written. This was my responsibility and I take it with full clarity. Thankyou
