Home of the BEST RUM IN THE WORLD, Venezuela's capital gave the Festival for the second consecutive year
For the second year, Caracas hosted the festival that brings together the best rum-houses in the country, awarded worldwide as the best rums in the world by Denomination of Origin Quality.
Divided into two rooms: Lounge with a large room that allowed people to meet and enjoy good music and the Tasting Room, private rooms where each house offered with its best rum masters, guided tastings explaining the process and making the best rums of each brand. I went to the guided tasting of the Cacique house, worldwide distributed and awarded. I was able to tray the two most luxurious rums: "Cacique Antiguo" and "Cacique Leyenda" with a select production of 4,000 bottles per year made in an artisanal and select way

Each brand had its own stand decorated with its own personality. The entrance to the event included a series of tastings, cocktails and snacks.
Among the tastings my favorite without a doubt was the premium rum 1796 from Santa Teresa house, a carefully matured rum in French oak barrels limousin, made under the Solera process

The Diplomatic House took advantage of the event and launched its "Diplomatico Planas" rum, a category of light rums without a ripening color and with a touch of ginger in its notes. A definitely interesting and pleasant rum

Other houses in the event were Pampero, Ocumare, 360, Cacique, Santa Teresa, Carúpano among others. Each bar offered its own cocktails (no, there was no Cuba Libre by the way) made by the best bartenders rum masters

One of the most outstanding cocktails for me, it was definitely this, a drink made with an 12 years old Ocumare rum, with fruity notes and a little touch of national hot pepper called Ají. I enjoyed tasting the different flavors of rum, the touch of wood, the citrus notes and then the spicy.

Other good coctails were the Mai Tai made with Mantuano rum from Diplomatic house with a twist of orange shell, almond milk and a bit of amaretto. A rare mix between sweet, bitter, citrus and of course a good and strong dark rum.
