I've written a lot about following the still small voice of conscience and the Christ spirit that dwells within each human heart. That's because our conscience is the voice of God. It speaks to us in a personal way and helps us to create a personal belief system which is our own personal truth. Every great man or woman must proclaim their own personal truth!
We are all limited by what we believe. In fact we are prisoners of what we believe! But still it must to be said that the politically correct religion of the masses is more incorrect than our own personal relationship with God that speaks through the still small voice of our conscience. Internal authority is always more correct than external authority.
Our ability to comprehend the infinite does not exist. The finite cannot grasp the infinite and perfect truth is not attainable by humans. We can only do the best we can! The still small voice of our conscience and the Christ spirit that dwells within our hearts will tell us when we have strayed off the path. There is no reason to be afraid!
Personal growth comes from ordeals and trials. As we grope in the dark we will at times go astray but our inner compass will guide us back to the right path if we are open to it. At some point in our lives we must all endure the dark night of the soul and only the still small voice of our conscience can guide us to the light.
A relatable sentiment and useful metaphor indeed! Although, I do have to question the internal/external authority statement only because I have 3 kids who are still developing their inner authorship over their own subjectivity. If they couldn't rely on the semi-external authority of their parents (my wife and I) then they'd invariably resort to instinctual impulses. The kind prone to hominids of any variety. Our biology dictates one way to survive while our minds and actions sometimes say and do contradictory things. Our words and actions don't match and we have to embody the contradiction somehow? Thus conscience is a curious faculty of guidance that helps and sometimes harms... this brings us to having a look at the beliefs that animate our lives. I see a connection we could make based on anarchism at first glance. Next theres the endearing banjo which, like any good conscience can sometimes help or sometimes "harm" peoples ears;)
Now as long as we are both referring to conscience as in the inner voice/feeling of right/wrong then we are likely understanding each other. If on the other hand you are using the word conscience but imagining a poetic representation of a "higher power" (god) then we may only differ on the emphasis placed on the subjective value of that qualia. {experience} I know this is unsolicited commentary but I just wanted to find a way to appreciate your post while experimenting with a way to communicate something like an agnostic bridge of honesty that seeks to structure a neutral way to regard the whole god debate without making this an us vs them divide. I got the impression that I could pitch this idea to you because you made a connection between The Voice of God and the conscience and it made me think: that is an uncontroversial way to regard God in a public and metaphorical way. I wonder if it's neutral-enough to perhaps find a non-religious, anarcho basis for Common Ground among non-statism inclined humans? Some type of Open Source Spirituality? I've rambled enough for one comment. Sorry if I took this somewhere off topic a bit...

I very much like what you are saying here and agree with you. Your comment reflects much of what I'm trying to share as well. As for children, Kahlil Gibran said something to the effect that our children are old souls as well that come through us with our help and blessing. I appreciate your thoughts.

Life demands discipline and that can either be self discipline or externally applied discipline. We can teach our children how to be self disciplined.
