5 Bicycles, 5 Kids, 1 Mom, 1 Dog, 1 Cat on a Walk in Panama Pictures - Fun Friday by A Panama Mama

in life •  7 years ago

A walk around our neighborhood is always fun, especially when it involves 5 bicycles, 6 people, a dog, and a cat (he followed us the whole way!). This isn't what I had planned to post this morning, but it was so pretty, I just have to! It has rained nonstop for the past two days in the afternoons (yea for rainy season). I decided to get the kids out this morning before we hit the local markets, run some errands, do our homeschooling, clean up and have small group at our house. It's going to end up being a busy Friday! Grateful for days like these, lovely weather, a beautiful location, family and a good road to ride around on!

And they're off! (You can even see the kitty near the left edge of the road!)

Our beautiful creek - tons of water thanks to TONS of rain!

Rainbow Eucalyptus and Baru

Rainbow Eucalyptus is a beautiful tree and we have quite a few growing in our neighborhood. Once the weeds are cut down, I can get closer to one and take a picture of the bark! They deserve a post all to themselves!

Which is your favorite picture?

Overall I'd say Panama is too wet for my taste, but I'd say you've picked a beautiful day for your walk. The cat agrees with me.

Trust me, I'm a doctor.

Yes, it is very wet. My mom came to visit once when it was still dry in the rainy season and she hated it. She doesn't like rain at all and it makes her depressed. It's not so bad for me. I guess I've gotten used to it and we have a huge covered area next to our house where the kids can play even when it's raining. Getting stuck out in it is no fun though! Thankfully we are about to enter into dry/windy season. ;)

We had a cat once who would go for walks with us. Strangest thing I'd seen in a while. I wondered if she were afraid we were moving to a new place and trying to leave her behind. Eventually we stopped letting her go outside when we brought all our pets indoors. Too many predators where we live, even in the daytime -- and I get too upset when we lose one of them, even to natural causes. It just wasn't worth the stress to tempt fate, even though they loved being outside, lying in the sun, chasing butterflies, etc.

Yeah I can understand being upset about losing a pet and daytime predators. We had chickens once in Texas and a pack of coyotes came through in the middle of the day and took a bunch of ours out. They must have been hungry to come out in the day like that! We also had owls and hawks that attacked them at night. And snakes! We had an indoor Siamese cat in Texas though. :) Here we have 2 cats and they are both indoor/outdoor. They sure are crazy! Thanks for the comment! Have a great day!

wow. That is beautiful. Sounds like a good time too, the whole bunch of you out for enjoying the beauty. I love the picture of the stream. :)

Thanks for the comment. It was a great time with no arguing! That always makes it a lot more fun. ;) I like the creek pic too. It looks tropical with the banana plant in it. ;)

Looks like a fun way to start your day! I like the 4th photo the best. I just love the combo of the mountain, barn, flowers in the foreground. It just makes me want to be there for a walk or bike ride! Side note - I had an outdoor cat that would follow me and my old beagle on walks around our block about 8 years ago!

Thanks for the comment. I was trying to decide which pic to post and just decided to post all of them. Finally realized I could take pics from the other side of the neighborhood and they wouldn't include the houses in the foreground. ;) It's .4 mile loop, so kind of crazy that the cat followed us the whole time. Sometimes both cats come and they play in the tall grass, but they stay right with us. ;)

Yea! Thanks!

Wow, you guys live in a beautiful spot! So jealous now :) I love all the photos, but I think the one with your kids, dog and cat the best. Thank you for sharing.

I like that one too! It is special for a few reasons, but just a normal day in the life pic at the same time. ;) Thanks for the comment!

Really awesome your picture!

Thanks so much for stopping by. :)

I always enjoy seeing your posts about family outings. Nice to see the animals tagging along, too!

Thanks for sharing!

Of course this is the highlight reel, no pics of the children howling in town when they don't get to push the cart around the store (I mean, not that that happened today or anything...). ;) It's a .4 mile loop, so I was surprised the cat kept up with us the whole time.

Wow. That sounds like a great walk. You definitely have some fantastic scenery, too. I can't remember if I wanted to push the cart around or not when I was a kid. Probably. haha

Lol. Yeah these are kid size carts, but 5 kid size carts coming down the aisle along with regular shoppers makes for a not-fun experience for anyone involved. ;) Today I tried to go with just the younger 2 and it worked until the end when they got to put groceries on and everyone else had to watch. Lol. Such fun.

I have two favorites, the stream & the neighbors farm with the mountains in the background. Those pictures cover two of my three favorite things.
Not saying what 3 is, you will just have to wonder.
Looks like a beautiful place to raise a family.
Maybe that is why it is called Eternal Springs? It is, isn't it?

Hm...I will have to wonder what your 3rd favorite thing is... ;) It is a lovely place to live, nice and quiet in our neighborhood. It is called the town of Eternal Spring (as in the season). The temperature is always just about perfect.

Okay , I threw in an extra s , "Can I buy a vowel? , " from Wheel of Fortune

Lol! Hey, "s" is a consonant. Vowels cost money. ;)

This is just too cute. Glad to have come across your post again and will be visiting you regularly now cos I love the homey, family element in your post and it makes me feel so warm. :)

Thanks for the comment and stopping by! Glad it makes you feel good to visit. :) My kids are a mess, but we have a lot of fun together and I love to show off Panama's natural beauty!

Kids are definitely not easy to handle, I have one 4 year old boy and to me it feels like I have 2 boys. He is a hands-full but so amazing and full of life. I too play with him a lot and make sure to give him new experiences and we have lots of adventures together too :)

Fun! 4 year olds do have a lot of energy!! My kids have built in playmates, so it makes life easier for me in a lot of ways. :) Thanks for the comments!
