[Whole30 Diet] Day 15 - Maybe Cheated

in life •  8 years ago

Either my body is getting used to this diet or my hormones have calmed down but I no longer feel like I spend the majority of my day eating. I woke up with a bit of a headache (blaming rainy weather) so I treated myself to coffee!

I also made this quick breakfast before heading to my parents house for the baby's first ever 2-hour baby-sitting date. Yay!

I used my me time to go to the woods. The sound of the water was so nice. I always fantasize about building houses when I walk in the woods. It was a really nice break. I take far too few of these.

My pre-lunch snack, while driving the baby home. This is by far the best of the three types of Larabar's I've tried. I could do this one more often. Though I know I shouldn't since I'm trying to avoid carb bombs on this plan.

Lunch was amazing. Baked sweet potato in coconut oil. Fried onions, peppers and eggs in ghee (eggs separately). Avocado. So much more work than I'm used to for lunch though. Man, I love convenience. But also delicious healthy lunches.

Dinner is when things started getting a little gray. We had a gift certificate for PF Chang's so I googled Whole30 compliant options. Some paleo lady wrote somewhere about what she gets at this restaurant so I ordered one of her suggestions. I'm pretty sure this must have had some sugar or soy, though. It was far too delicious. I didn't have any rice but boy I couldn't help feeling like I was cheating with that brown ginger sauce. I also read on google about some guy who cheated WAY hard at the same restaurant at the same point of his diet. He went so far as to order desserts and eat noodles. I at least didn't go that hard but I could definitely see why he did it. This middle point is such a dreadful hump to get over. I just want ice cream and cheesecake.

Since I was so OVER my diet today and the rest of the fam wanted mall cinnabons I decided to cheat a tiny bit more and order a latte. I asked for almond milk and they let me read the label which showed 8g of sugar. Oh well, I thought. Juice and Larabars have more than that. It's not a terrible cheat. I'm so OVER being good. 😤😤😤

However, I only sipped 1/18th of the latte before my stomach started hurting a little and I felt a bit of weird bloating. Welp, so much for that! I'm sure it would have affected me like that before this diet but I would have powered through, assuming it was some combo of dinner and treat that made me feel bad. Nope, this latte sucked. I threw the whole thing away. Such a delicious waste. 😞

So, looking back, maybe my cheats aren't that bad. Hopefully tomorrow I'll feel triumphant to be over the hump. The first week and a half when by so smoothly, I was surprised to feel so sick of it today.

Tomorrow is a new day.

Onward to day 16!

You had me at Avocado.

sugar?! Blasphemy!!!

20 lashes with a paleo zoodle.

You have a top notch coffee cup if I do say so myself :) Resteemed!

Thanks!! It's my fave! The quote on the other side is great. I love everything about Mark Twain.

Well you can't leave me in the dark, now I have to know which quote it is haha!

"Compliments always embarrass a person. You do not know anything to say. It does not inspire you with words. There is nothing you can say in answer to a compliment. I have been complimented myself a great many times, and they always embarrass me...I always feel that they have not said enough..." - Mark Twain

This speaks to my embarrassment ridden, Leo soul. 😊

Thanks, ha I love it!!!

However, I only sipped 1/18th of the latte before my stomach started hurting a little and I felt a bit of weird bloating.

That's common with bad coffee. Most people would chalk it up to "acidity," but it's mostly just low-quality, over-roasted coffee beans. Throwing it away was a good choice!

Thanks! I wondered why that was! Coffee doesn't bother me at home, but I use coconut milk as creamer. Didn't realize it could've been the espresso they use. Boo Saxby's!

Beautiful! I like your writing and photos too. ☆☆☆☆☆😎

Thanks!!

You're welcome. ♡

You should stop fruits and starchy vegetables, like sweet potatoes. It just maintains your craving for carbs.

At this point, to get rid of all sugar cravings go full keto.

[sticks fingers in ears]
"lalalalalalalala"

I know you're right though. I just don't know if I'm ready to stop. The sugar dragon is so strong!

Everybody can.

I switched to keto diet 9 weeks ago. In Vietnam. Country of carbs: sugar everywhere, rice noodle & tropical fruits. Went through the rough period of sugar cravings.

Then few weeks in Hong Kong, with all French pastries, dim sum, beer, wine and so much good food.
Resisted all of that and went through the no-booze phase.

And now, in Malaysia, land of fried rice, curries and delicious Malay sweets.
But easy. No more tentations. No cravings.

Lost 15 pounds so far and 4 inch of belly. While gaining muscle and be more productive.

Way to go! I'm on day 13 after starting over on day 3 a couple of weeks ago after a mishap with a cookie at my daughter's preschool event lol

I know exactly what you mean about your hormones starting to level out in the second week. I'm definitely feeling better and I'm not constantly thinking about when my next meal is coming up.

mishap with a cookie at my daughter's preschool event<<

Hahahahahahah!!!

Good for you for starting over though! The idea of starting over is what keeps me straight. I'd really hate to, especially at this point. I probably should ditch the carbs and fruits too but waaaaaah!! I'm already giving up so MUCH!

Lol me too!
