We are party people

in life •  7 years ago

My wife has been in a surgery. Something called... Tonsillectomy. They removed the tonsils from the back of her mouth due to repeating inflammations. Tonsils are something streptococcus bacteria love and as my wife had repeating issues due to this, the doctor recommended tonsillectomy. Wow, these words are difficult in English.

This is fine.

Now as she is not really able to eat anything properly, we've been thinking what kinds of food we will eat when she is fully recovered. That's the thing number 1.

No going outside for dancing and drinking.

No sauna parties.

No wild sex parties on drugs.

Only about food. What restaurants we were going to visit, what we were going to cook at home, who would we invite to eat with us..

That's when we noticed - we are food party people.

One of the most important things for us in a party is the food or snacks. The people too, of course, but it's not drinking and the music. Not most of the time, there are separate times for these.

But we came in the conclusion when she is completely healed, we will have a nacho party. We will invite few closest friends and eat nachos with different dips and sauces all night. We might watch a movie or play something, but most likely all will be built around eating and talking.

When I was a kid I never understood adults as they only talked to each other. How boring it did seem.

But now I'm already looking forward to the future nacho party. I'm hoping I'll be able to share some photos of the nacho party to you all. Not to spread the joy or anything, but to make you all jealous.

More than nachos

I'm rarely sharing anything very private, as I'm trying to keep my identity hidden on Steemit. I can be an complete asshole when I feel like it and I don't want anyone to appear behind my door to kick my ass.

But with good luck, you'll get a small glimpse in my life. Especially when I'm waiting for my new (used) Canon EOS 6d I ordered. I was planning to pay for it with the cryptos I have, but now as the prices are dropping I honestly don't want to sell anything.

We'll see what this turns into.

Hopefully something cheesy, saucy and tasty.

Tips needed!

Any good sauce recipes for nachos are appreciated. I'm making almost perfect devil's jam and my wife makes great guacamole, but I would love to get some tips and ideas so I don't need to buy everything from a store.

Also, could it work if I had some kind of music theme on the nacho party? I could build up a playlist to play on the background of the nacho eating.

Image not related to nachos, just wanted to share this photo taken by me. Not not all the photos are nachos.

Look up the chipotle recipe for guacamole. It was on youtube one time. Trust me, its to die for and it is the actual recipe. So good, enjoy your nacho party.

Schipotle guacamole sounds like a good idea. I could try looking into that, as it sounds delicious!

Thanks, I'll try my best enjoying.

I have Homer Simpson singing Nacho nacho man in my head now !!!

Hide that sausage!

Ooh, nacho man <3 That could be me!

i think you have things well planed but I will say making homemade cheese dip it quite easy and taste much better than those in jars but sounds like a wonderful time. i think I would add margaritas they make the throat feel great. hope your wife comes through it all well and heals quickly

Oh but I have never made a cheese dip! Could I trust a random cheese dip recipe online, or do you have anything you recommend?

1 (2 pound) loaf processed cheese (such as Velveeta®), cubed 2 (15 ounce) cans chili without beans (such as Hormel®) 2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, cubed
Philadelphia Cream Cheese Original
1 (16 ounce) jar picante sauce
combine all on low heat until melted and ooohhhh sooo good

I have a couple of great recipes for cheeses dip
if you want I will pull them up

450 grams cream cheese (softened)
300 milliliters soured cream
1 teaspoon dried oregano
½ teaspoon chillies (crushed)
250 grams pizza sauce
50 grams spring onions (finely chopped)
¼ teaspoon garlic (finely chopped)
60 grams cheddar cheese (grated)
115 grams mozzarella cheese (grated)
100 grams red pepper (chopped)

This sounds better than the Velveeta one, as I assume we don't have anything similar to Velveeta but I know most of the cheeses mentioned here!

Nonnniiin ja nyt mulla on nälkä :)) Ihan kiva toi viimenen kuva, mutta kyllä nachot voittaa :D

....im all food person...no party needed. I had the flue not long ago...so I couldnt eat properly.....thing is, when normal ppl get sick they also lose their apetite....oh not me. :3 Sadly I also found a food that goes down easy and with pleasure when sick. Ice cream ^^

...sadly no recepies...I think i ate nachos twice in my life... :>

Well my wife has an appetite, but she can't really swallow that well right now.

But you should make nachos OR enter our party! My favorite method to make food from nachos is to steak minced meat with some nacho spices and beans. Then put a lot of nachos and cheese on an oven plate and warm them until the cheese melts.

Then you start picking nachos with cheese on your plate, add minced meat + beans on it, add different sauces...

Mm'm.

if you like white cheese sauces which are my favorite then try this one

24 ounces white American cheese, cubed 12 ounces Monterey Jack cheese, cubed 1 pint half-and-half 1 pint heavy whipping cream 1 (4 ounce) can diced jalapeno peppers, drained
Peppers Jalapeno combine all on low heat and you will love it

wait.... no wild sex parties? i thought that's all you Europeans did all day/ all nite...

Well I would, but for some reason my wife is not as excited about them as I am.

Sucks.

I want a Nacho party too D: A friend of mine makes an awesome cheese sauce, I can ask her if you want and forward the recipe to you.

Oh yes please, I've tried cheese sauce twice and it was horrible the both times. This is something I have yearned after for years.

I've skipped this phase by putting some cheese on the nachos and heating them up, but it's still not a sauce!

@apsu are bless you and your wife.I hope she makes a speedy recovery so you can have your nacho party soon.I really do enjoy sharing food.It really brings people together. What is especially great is the different dips.Theres always something for everyone.

Mine and my hubbys favourite is sour cream and chive dip.All you need is sourcream, cut fresh chives, lemon juice and pinch of salt.Very simple and cool against the pallet especially if you have had a spicy dip.

I am a newbie on steemit. Please check out my blog upvote and follow. So we can all stay connected. Many thanks👍

Thank you for leaving the comment! I could try the dip you recommended, that sounds delicious as I'm a big fan of chives. I'm usually having a sour cream and chive dip with potatoes, but not with nachos like this.

If I remember, I'll leave you feedback after tasting the dip :)

Please do @apsu would appreciate all the support.I also have sour cream dip with potatoes too.But it is really nice with nachos.Compliments the corn chips really well.Me and my family have it when we have movie night.👌

I was already graving nachos yesterday and you just made it worse :( Have you tried putting nachos in the oven topped with minced meat, salsa, jalapeno and cheese sauce?

Oh sorry. I've been thinking about nachos and pizzas for over a week already so I can feel your pain.

I have tried something similar, I've put the nachos themselves in the oven with sprinkled cheese and then prepared minced meat separately. Then when everything is warm and ready, I've just gathered layers of nachos, sauces and minced meat.

Me and @escapist just bought nachos because of you. Have you though about a new career as promo girl?

A nacho party, u know what here in our language nacho is used as word for "dance"
Instead of food party, same words are used for a dance party here

And gud wishes to your wife hope she heels soon and so that you can enjoy the nacho party

Ha, well I prefer my kind of nacho :) Is nacho just any kind of dancing or a specific dance?

As I know, salsa is also a dance, but I prefer my salsa with nachos.. salsa nacho.

Nacho is kind of dance which is probably performed on marriage ceremonies

I'm not sure if you're trying to trick me :D What language are you talkign about?

Haha no dear not at all I m talking of hindi language, if u don't belive me

Check nacho baliye songs on google

Hoping I'll be getting my RSVP...

Nacho party baby ;)

I don't even know what RSVP is.. rectal superior vendetta penetration?

Répondez s'il vous plaît meaning - "Please respond".

I'd say rectal superior vendetta penetration was pretty close.

You should make hummus!

I don't really have a recipe. I just sort of do it by taste with a general idea of what to put in.

My experiences with hummus are not that positive, but that could actually be an option. It was a bit odd looking hummus and I'm sure I could do perfect hummus myself.

It's not that hard. You just take chickpeas, and make it more blendable with olive oil, and lemon juice, and a little sesame oil (optional if using tahini). Sometimes you need to use water as well, but it depends on how juicy your beans are, and how powerful your blender or food processor is. Then you add turmeric, cumin, oregano, salt, black pepper or hot pepper, and garlic.

I think it tastes better with both tahini and sesame oil. The sesame oil is more of a smooth sesame taste, while the tahini is almost like a super thick peanut butter like taste. Both are made from sesame, hence why you don't necessarily need both.

The amounts of each ingredient, I eyeball, then taste at the end and adjust, but you can find tons of recipes that all disagree on the amounts.

Judging by the recipes I looks up online to make sure I wasn't forgetting anything, the oregano is likely optional. Many don't include cumin or turmeric either, but I think it doesn't taste as good without them. But I suppose they are optional.

I pray that your wife has a speedy recovery so you and the family can have that food party sooner than later. Sucks that she can't eat much. I know you all are looking forward to those food parties. I hope all goes well very soon!!!!

Man and I just made nachos last night =( I feel so bad for her, hopefully she recovers soon and you can get back to your normal life, with less inflammation. :)

And you didn't save any for me? You monster! :(

Of course I did, I'm not that evil. Got all the toppings.

Well luckily there is time to recover and rest of the life time to eat :)

Thanks, I'm looking forwards to food party too!

If you have problems with medical terms, you can always ask me, I'm studying medicine.
Since we don't have any Mexican restaurants here, I'm planning to make nachos as well. Looks so tasty!

Well I know plenty of medical terms in Finnish, but not in English and the difficulty is with the correct writing. I don't want to copy and paste the terms.

Are you really studying medicine? What will you become then finally, a doctor? (was going to write "restaurant" by mistake)

Well luckily tacos are fun to make, just have fun with them :)

I'm studying medicine now, I will be doctor after graduation and I want to be scientist after my graduation, so I will study PhD as well.
I think you should copy paste terms, it's easier or you can ask me as well heheh.
I want to try making tacos and nachos if I can find materials in my large but small city.

This topic is not related to my level of expertise. I will keep my mouth shut:)

What, nachos are not on your level? Are you above or below the nacho-level? ;)

Huhu... now I want some nachos.

Well hope you can find some in store :)
