Fastest Curry Every - Dish from the Himalayas of India called "kaddu"

in life •  7 years ago  (edited)

Summary

This quick curry called Kaddu originates from Himachal Pradesh in India. It is a mountainous region full of natural beauty & exotic scenes. Some of the typical cuisines from here have a bit of soury taste and your tongue will love it. The food here is very simple but surprisingly very tasty. I was born here & grew up eating this type of food. Kaddu is one of it & very special because it can me made in literally 5 minutes. Since it is like a gravy, it goes perfect with steamed rice or bread

Ingredients (numbered as per above picture):-

  1. Yogurt - Dilute it in 4:1 yogurt to water ratio
  2. Chopped onions - 2
  3. Bay leaf -1
  4. Coriander Powder 1/4 spoon
  5. Turmeric Powder - 1/4 spoon
  6. Cloves - 4
  7. Garlic powder - 1/4 spoon
  8. Cumin Seeds - 1/2 spoon
  9. Olive Oil

First step is to put 1 spoon of olive oil in a pan and heat it. After about 1 minute when the oil is hot, put in all the stuff from the above list except the yogurt

Keep mixing the stuff inside the pan and let it cook until the onions start looking nice & brownish (like an indian ;)). Add some salt now as per your taste .

When the stuff looks almost like above, turn the gas/heating to the least . Let the things inside the pan cool a bit for like 1 minute. This is very important else the yougurt will be spoiled. Pour in the yougurt after cooling 7.jpg

Keep stirring and rotating . The semi heated pan graciously turns the yougurt to this beautiful gravy. After about 1 minute of stirring, turn off the heating and the dish is ready.

Enjoy it with a serving of steamed rice. Remember I told you about the soury taste ? You will get that taste in this curry because of the yougurt 8.jpg
