Steps to Fight against Depression

1. Recreational Activities

Recreational-activities.jpg

I know it sounds simple, but believe me, it is very effective. When we perform activities that we enjoy, we release Endorphins from our Body which relieves Anxiety. The Recreational Activity you are interested could be anything of Your Choice but you should be having Fun.

2. Listen to Music

I don't think I have to explain what importance Music plays in relieving Depression. Listening to the music that we enjoy acts directly on our Nervous system improving our mood and making us feel better.

3. Accept your Helplessness

This might be the hardest of all but you need to accept that not everything in the World is under your Control. You cannot control all the factors. As I have said on many Occasions that Acceptance is a Great Virtue.

Depression is seldom openly talked about, particularly in work life. It's a lot more common than some people might expect, but there are things that we can do about it.

The 3 Pillars of Depression... the short version...

Depression is commonly underpinned by 3 emotions or ways of responding to life.

1). Guilt - Past time orientation
2). Anger - Present moment time orientation
3). Anxiety - Future time orientation

Resolving Guilt and Anger can have a huge effect on a person's depression, as can exercise, and the colours of their thoughts too.

All the best
Steve :O)

You said about Three Pillars of Depression but I think Shame could be one more Pillar as many People don't come out in the Open and say that they are Depressed simply because they are Ashamed what the Society will think about Him/her.

You make a really good point @arunava :O)

Shame is Guilt+ and by that I mean... Shame is Guilt ( I feel bad about having broke the social rules as I see them applying to me ) + the element of being observed.

Very similar, but slightly different.

Shame is a big part of why people aren't open about their issues.

We're told that we have to BE strong...

All of these are about

  • Actions
  • Identity
  • Rules ( social )

i.e. who I am being when do the action of breaking a social rule.

This is what is behind so much of it. :O)

Shame had been a Huge Part of my Life when I was in School. But thankfully I have turned over a new Leaf.

Now I do what I want when I want.

There is nothing to be ashamed of.

This is a quality post :) All of these things have great value to offer when managing depression. Years ago when I had Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for my depression and anxiety, acceptance was most certainly the hardest but also one of the most important parts of the process; especially with anxiety!

I was introduced to something called "Worry Time" where if you cannot help but feel anxious about something then accept that, find a safe place and simply allow yourself to worry freely about it, tonot try and control it. I found that after a while of doing this it's almost as if your mind grows accustomed to it and the anxiety begins to diminsh slowl and you can begin to re-establish control.

Well done with post, it's so important to show others that things can be different and they aren't alone :)

Depression is something people don't like to talk about as most of them think that there is something wrong with them but in fact, it's perfectly normal to get Depressed Sometimes.

The Concept of Worry Time is New to me and its good to learn new Things by bringing out some Topics.

Very useful advices to fight with depression.

I had a panic attack many years ago , thank god it didnt last very long , it is a terrible illness because its a mental problem which at the same time controls your physical movements unintentionally, so therefore almost impossible to control , all my best wishes to those who have this problem , but they must not despair , time heals all wounds..................p.s. Medical care aswell.

You said it right.

Time Heals all Wounds.

Our Body is a Mysterious thing and it gets accustomed to things over Time.

Thanks a lot @rodmack

Nice post to get rid off from depression along with all steps YOGA 🧘‍♀️ is also a way to reduce depression. 👍

I have never tried Yoga so I can't be sure if it works in this Case. I have only included Methods that I have tried for Myself.

haa haa please try once a full week.

That seems very uninteresting to me.

For some weird reason, I tend to stay away from Yoga.

Probably not depressing music.
Also, its not just countering anxiety, but when you do pleasurable things you wake up the pleasure neurons that you had shut off when you crawled into a hole (or your bed) hoping to get a second wind

If you Prefer Sad Tunes than it will help you because it's your Comfort Zone. Everyone has their Own sets of Genres when it comes to Music.

As for me I am not a DeathMetal Guy but one of my Friend Loves them.
