A Walk in the Park: My Journey Through Images

in life •  8 years ago  (edited)

I present to you a series of photos from my most recent adventure on a nearby nature preserve and trail.

The weather was still very nice in my area, so my wife and I took a little trip. We found a small nature preserve with a walking trail – that we didn’t even know existed – and went on a stroll. This is what I captured, with some added commentary.

Just before we set out on our journey, a little bit of rain passed through the area. When we arrived, we saw that the trail started with a long boardwalk. At the beginning of it, there were a bunch of fallen leaves that were changing colors. This is something that we don’t see much of in this part of the country, so it was a pleasant surprise.

We continued down the winding boardwalk...

Then it opened up into a dirt/crushed seashell walking trail.

Mixed in with the pine and palm trees were some oak trees with plenty of moss dangling from the branches.

We continued down the path and came to a fork. Straight ahead was a small bridge that would lead us further down the same path.

To the right...well...there was a scenic overlook trail.

We went right. At the end of the path, there was a deck with a bench and a small window overlooking the marsh.

This was the view, which was slightly disappointing – but it wasn’t a complete loss.

This is looking back towards the trail leading to the deck. In this shot, you can see the variety of trees that grow here.

We hung out for a few minutes, then headed back up the trail. We followed it over the bridge, past more trees...

Then it opened up to a larger scenic area. This is just a teaser of what will come in the next post!

I hope you liked the photos. My wife and I were glad to get out and enjoy the weather, which has been and will continue to be almost perfect for the next couple of weeks.

Stay tuned for volume two of this journey, which should be posted tomorrow!

Great shots and a big thank you for sharing the results of your journey with us all. All for one and one for all! Namaste :)

Thanks for stopping by!

Very nice:)

Thanks!

Nice scenery. Looks like a peaceful and relaxing place to explore. The trees look very different from the part of the country where I grew up (the Pacific Northwest). The dangling moss is a cool feature.

It was pretty quiet out there. We only saw two other people the entire time we were walking around.

Nice! It's so crowded where I live now (Tokyo) that even when my family takes a day trip to the nearby mountains to escape from the urban jungle, there's still hoards of people along the hiking trails doing the exact same thing. Hard for me to imagine such a quiet path.

I certainly wasn't expecting so few people out there, especially on a Saturday. But I'm definitely not going to complain about it. I always prefer uncrowded and quiet places to the alternative.

I love the shots of the leaves. That's always one of those things that sticks out to me as one of the more memorable things about the fall in my area. Always an eye-catcher.
In fact I have a similar image myself. :)

That's a lot of leaves. That's what I grew up with living up north. Down in the sub-tropics, it's mostly pine needles and palm leaves. They just go from green to dead brown. It's not impressive.

Really beautiful...Sorry you found the view disappointing, I thought it was one of the better shots (I guess I'm just weird). What state is it, beautiful scenery upvoted!!

Well, it wasn't so much the actual scenery - it was the fact that there wasn't much of an overlook. It was a small viewing window, blocked by some small trees - mostly dead/leafless ones.

And this is along the southeastern coastline.

That's what I thought...looked like GA or SC...I was leaning toward SC because of all the palmettos.

Walking on trails is always peaceful and serene for me. Nice pics.

We've been trying to take advantage of good weather and wanted to explore more of our area, so it works out well. It has been quite peaceful so far. It's nice to not hear neighbors and cars for a little while.

Hi! This is really beautiful! 6s makes high quality pictures
What is this place?

It's just some saltwater marshland in my area. This was part of a small preserve.

very relaxing images
thx for sharing them -upvoted!

Thank you!

Thanks. This is the kind of post that I'm glad have been following. Interesting, place like this where i am are called nature reserve what you called nature preserve there

Yeah, nature reserve/preserve - it's all the same. Thanks for following! I'm glad you enjoyed it.

You're welcome

Lovely walk and scenery. I'm new to steemit and an amateur photographer. Appreciate the beautiful pictures. Will upvote and follow :)

Thanks. Welcome to the game! There's a rather large photography community here. You should fit in well.

Thank you.

I'm freezing right now so getting to live vicariously through these kind of pictures is just what the doctor ordered...if he were a better doctor he would order that I move to a place with weather like this but he's cold too so he clearly isn't thinking straight.

Sounds like you need a new doctor. Maybe call one that lives in Miami and he can diagnose you and prescribe treatment over the phone.

Brilliant! Didn't A-Rod have a doctor down there? I don't think he's busy right now.

I believe so. While you're on your call with him, maybe you can get some "enhancement" therapy to help you at the gym.

really good pics!

Thank you!

Great pictures! :)

Thank you, sir!

Reminds me of a place that I went in Australia, somewhere near Melbourne! Great photos, especially love those wooden walkways :)
