On Prenatal Cognition

The following excerpt is taken from my book Keeping a Sound Mind in a Chaotic World, which is a philosophical treatise on the mind, written from a biblical basis:

==Luke 1:41 says, “And it came to pass, that, when Elizabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb.” This verse says Elizabeth’s baby reacted to information it heard and understood from within her womb. The baby was John the Baptist. This verse says something about the cognitive functions which infants, even unborn infants, are capable of. Babies may not have the ability to articulate their understanding using language, but John the Baptist clearly expressed joy in response to hearing the mother of Christ’s greeting. Babies, including the unborn, can understand far more than we give them credit for.==
