There has been a massive influx of gold diggers into Arizona from California. Is this really anything new though? We have all heard the stories of when the soldiers got back from World War II and there were women waiting at the dock to find their future husbands.  Would these women be considered gold diggers in a sense?  I mean let's be honest, they didn't know anything about these guys except that they were returning home from war and that they had some money from their time at war.  

Can anyone really blame them though?  At the time women had less of a chance to be gainfully employed.  Today is a lot different most would say in the United States.  Women have the ability to become doctors, jet pilots, programmers, engineers, and every other career path you can imagine.  

The fact that women have the ability to have very successful has created a problem for themselves as well.  There is a growing number of male gold diggers.   

The lines have really become super blurred as to what a gold digger really is.  Let's use this example for instance.  What if the woman is a doctor and is making $400,000 / year and the husband in the relationship is an engineer and only makes $120,000 / year.  He is doing pretty good but her income potential is way higher.  So instead of sending the kids to day care everyday they decide that he is going to stay home and take care of the kids and do work around the house.  I don't consider him to be a gold digger.  Also if the rolls are reversed I wouldn't consider her a gold digger either.  

My Gold Digger Definition

If a man or a woman continues to hang around their partner where their primary motivation is to benefit from the other person's money.  

Again men can be gold diggers as well.  So watch out ladies!  

I have an ex-girlfriend who made a lot more than me but we always split everything 50/50 for trips and things of that nature.  I just wouldn't feel right letting someone else foot the bill.  There is just no honor in that in my opinion.  

There are a lot of reason you need to detect these gold diggers early.  They could literally ruin your life.  The word Alimony should strike fear for everyone reading this.  I just talked to someone who has a dad who has been married a couple of times.  He is a doctor and his second wife took him for a ride.  Now he has to pay her $7,000 / month to uphold her lifestyle.  It is nuts. The more you make the worse it can get.  Not that I'm a Donald Trump fan but he has to pay Ivana Trump $350,000 a year in alimony. I sure hope she can survive on this small amount of money.......jeezzzzzz!    

Steps That I Use To Test Girls

This is coming from a guy's perspective but these are my real experiences.  

Case Out The Situation

If I meet them on a dating app like Tinder, Bumble, and Coffee Meets Bagel I can someone tell from their pictures if they are "high maintenance."  You can often tell this because all their pictures are going out pictures mainly and there is nothing of them playing a sport or hiking.  I just know that there is a high likelihood that it wouldn't work out anyways with these girls so they are off the list to begin with.  If I meet them at a bar or someplace else I ask questions to kind of see what they are about without asking too much.  

Be An Extreme Cheapskate And Let It Be Known

When I go out in Tucson I always park in free parking.  I can park by the Children's Museum if I'm going to a spot downtown or I know a couple spots I can park if I'm going someplace on 4th Avenue.  It would be more convenient potentially if I park in one of the parking garages but that cost money.  If a girl asked where I parked I will say where and say how it is free.  I judge her reaction from that.  Usually almost all girls will pass this test.  

Another way I'm a cheap skate is I always mix up a super strong drink before I leave my house and put it in my trunk.  When I get to my parking spot I will drink that so that I'm pretty much already feeling pretty good.  Last Halloween I mixed up such a strong drink that I didn't even have to buy a drink all night!  If this comes up I will talk about what a champion I am at unauthorized tail gating!  If the girls think it is funny and smart then you are good!  

Don't be afraid to complain about a weak ass drink to the bartenders while you are hanging out with a girl.  One time I paid $7 for a drink and the entire thing was ice with a splash of colored syrup.  There wasn't even any alcohol in it. I took one sip and the syrup was gone and all that was left was ice.  I wall like "HELL NO."  I usually don't complain but in that situation I had to.  The girl I was hanging out with thought it was ridiculous too.  I complained and ended up talking to the manager and telling him that was unacceptable.   If the complaint is legit the girl should have your back.  

Go On A Cheap First Date

Usually ice cream, frozen yogurt, or coffee is good enough.  If she is on page for meeting you for that then you are probably good.  Who doesn't like ice cream anyways?  

Don't Tell Them About Anything You Have That Is Nice

I don't even mention anything about my pool until after I have hung out with a girl a couple of times.  I don't want material possessions to cloud their perception of me.  If they see your car and it isn't that great and they make a big deal about it then you might have a gold digger on your hands.  

I Wear T-Shirt And Jeans

I just wear T-Shirt and Jeans.  If they don't like my NASA shirt they might be a gold digger.  

Be Aware Of All Comments

If a girl makes fun of your phone because you don't have the latest iPhone it is a very big red flag.  This has happened to me very recently.  I have an older Android phone that is worth under $50.  It is fine but a girl decided that she was better than me because her parents bought her an iPhone 6s.  I did what any respectable guy would.  I told her friends I think she is a gold digger and got their numbers.  Out of the those two girls I started texting a lot to the hottest of the two and then went out with that one this weekend.  It's survival of the fittest out there!  

Act As If You Were Born With A Plastic Spoon In Your Mouth

You might have been born with a stainless steel spoon purchased at a garage sale but you have to take it down a notch and even act like you grew up broke as a joke.  When asked about where I grew up I say true stuff but the impression someone might get is that I almost grew up Amish.  Let them imagine a reality where there is no pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.  That way you can really wash out any intentions of securing a solid monetary future.  If you can do this and she sticks around you can bet that she really is into you and doesn't care about money.  

Conclusion 

The lines are certainly blurred on what a gold digger is and how to spot one.  Let's say this for instance.  Is a girl a gold digger if she doesn't want to date a guy who has been a low level employee at McDonalds for the last 15 years?  Maybe he has been dealt the short end of the stick but has always worked hard. Women will typically consider this to be a situation where a guy doesn't have ambition.  You can take this example to any level.  Should a female doctor date anyone who isn't a doctor?  Clearly it is a ton of work to become a doctor so is anyone who didn't spend all that time in school not driven?  

I have hung out with female doctors and female jet pilots and the fact of the matter was they weren't gold diggers.  The girls that seem to have a higher probability of being a gold digger has been the young hot girls who have never had to pay for anything themselves.  The typically don't have any concept of money.  They may be getting their bachelors degree but these girls seem to be really trying to get their Mrs. degree.  It seems to be a generational thing. I even had one gold digger admit that her mom told her it is just as easy to fall in love with a rich man as it is to fall in love with a poor man.  I was like WOOOOOWWWWWW!  

Guys can be gold digger man babies as well so everyone has to test for this so they don't ruin their lives and become an indentured servant paying alimony to some lazy ass for the rest of their life!
