Rustic, i am feeling old like this milk machine in the fields behind the dogpark.
I don't know if the milk machine still works, or if it has been replaced by a newer model. Or that it is broken and much too expensive to repair. He is standing there alone, a sort of monument to the profession of farmer, of dairy cattle farmer.
A dying profession in the Netherlands due to all the rules, regulations and conditions for animal welfare. Rules are good but we must be able to work. To have a company, to earn a living and make money.
This machine is a kind of monument. A reminder of other times. Just like everything else in life, yesterday is the past, a memory of existence. Live now .... before you know it , you are rusty!
Rust on machines is like scars on our skin. It is a reminder and it is a sign of what we've been through and that nothing is eternal. Nothing we can do about it, just accept it. It is the way of life, older gets obsolete and will be cast aside to make space for newer and better leaving us on a walk down the memory lane wondering that why was grass greener and the sky bluer when we were young. I feel like a rusting away sometimes, but there's a bright side to it - we can now annoy younger people the way our elders used to annoy us with their endless smarts and knowledge.

Kind of a remark on both your post and @tggr's comment.
It is a relic. Often, it is hard to explain, I don't mind changes and progress but many times I do mind why things change. Faster, easier, less contact with others....not sure it is a good direction but that is where we are going. Seems like my ideas and beliefs got rusty overnight. But, never fear, we have two grandchildren to bless with our experiences. Lol

They say that age is only a number to try and perk us up my friend.
A truer saying is that getting old is not for sissies.
There's just no handbook, or operators manual available with full instructions about what happens to us every day as we age.
Googling anything like a sore toe for instance is a scary thing, as one can easily be misled to believe that one has a wart on the brain, or an imminent heart condition, just because of a bruised toe.
Yup, getting old is not for the faint hearted I would say.
Blessings!

Lol, trying my utmost to control it my friend as I can get up to unimaginable things. Got me in so much schtuck at school that I was summoned to the principal's office almost every day. For 6 of the best cuts of course.
Allow me a short true story here.
At church we had to sit on the floor in Sunday school.
I thumb tacked a girl's dress that was sitting in front of me to the wooden floor and when she stood up the back of her dress ripped off at the stitched waist.
Much merriment from the guys, but it was never my intention, as I thought that she would only struggle to get up.
Of course you can imagine the bedlam that I had to face.
Such is life hahaha
Blessings!
