Interesting look at it. Like the hive they need a queen bee to lure them in, either via a great vision (Elon Musk and Spacex) or by pure money.

I really enjoyed Zuckerberg and Elon going at it on Twitter about artificial intelligence - especially Elon saying "I've talked to Mark about this. His understanding of the subject is limited."

other than in the sense of human organizations (corporations, religions, etc). I do NOT think that artificial intelligence is likely. The complexity is many orders of magnitude greater than we imagine.

yeah it will be interesting to see how it plays out. I have to disagree with you, I think it is inevitable, just a matter of how long it will take.

human level intelligence happened ONCE already...we know that for a fact. It took a few million if not billions of years of development...but it happened. You're probably right..the question is HOW LONG will it take?

I'm of the opinion that no one is taking into account how HARD the problem is..
I'm of the opinion that human level artificial intelligence is of the same order of difficulty as artificial gravity, desktop fusion, or perhaps even harder.

We were not by design hence the longer time frame. Gravity is not hard it's just mass or centripetal force.

I like Gates quote that I think is relevant to AI - " We always overestimate the change that will occur in the next two years and underestimate the change that will occur in the next ten. Don't let yourself be lulled into inaction."

If it's truly intelligent, it will look at the program that created it and start on the destruction.

are we truly intelligent?
if so..why are we not doing that same thing?
