So far we like Budapest a lot.
We like the people, the culture and the architecture, but theres something else what distinguishes this city.
I am talking about it's history.
The horrible events that took place here.
This monument is one of the most touching that i have ever seen.
Its called shoes by the Danube bank monument.
Which was built to honour the people who were killed by fascist Arrow Cross militarymen in Budapest during World War II.
People were ordered to take off their shoes, and were shot at the edge of the water so that their bodies fell into the river and were carried away.
It represents their shoes left behind on the bank.
It is the sad place, but it is important to not forget the past while creating the future.
