Go to school. Go to college. Get a J.O.B.
Go to work, come home, make dinner, go to sleep
Go to work, come home, make dinner, go to sleep
Go to work, come home, make dinner, go to sleep...

The rat race

This is what you were raised to do, indoctrinated to do.
The sound of the school bell is replaced by the factory whistle.

The programming that we were raised in told us that we always need to work to earn our living.
But it is not true.

In the past we had to go to the well / stream and carry water back to our homes.
Now, we have an array of pipes and pumps that deliver the water with just the turn of a faucet.
Do we demand that we continue carrying water?

So too with feeding the animals. This too can be automated.
In fact, you can pretty much automate the entire farm, given time, and you will be set for food forever.
This is capital investment.

Maslow illustrated a hierarchy of needs.

Maslow's Pyramid
Self Actualization
Esteem
Love / Belonging
Safety
Physiological

Self Actualization
Esteem
Love / Belonging
Safety
Physiological

And almost all people on this planet are somewhat stuck in the bottom level.
If they fail to get up tomorrow and go to work, there will many hungry & homeless people.
Their lives hang in a delicate balance. On a precarious perch.

But is this the way it should be, in a world on the brink of a robotic revolution of the industrial revolution?

It is not. However, we have to take stock of our situation and decide to change it.
We, the great majority of people, are stuck in the Physiological level of the hierarchy of needs, and we never think about getting out.

The way out is to become financially independent.

The basic path is to lower your costs and raise your income.
Investing the difference until your passive income exceeds your lowered costs.

Just think, how it would feel to wake up tomorrow and know that you will have food and shelter, even if you stay in bed all day. Now, I know that you wouldn't stay in bed all day. You already motivated yourself to financial independence. You probably have a ton of things that you want to do. And you will enjoy doing them, because you are not obligated to do them, and you chose them.

This is the world past being stuck on the bottom rung of the fulfillment ladder.
A world or real possibilities.
Not a world stuck in the rat race.

And this is why I say, that you need to become financially independent.
And at no other time in history has it been easier than now.

Slow and steady. :) I own my own business doing what I love and have no debt. That's a good start I think! lol

Indeed it is.

It's nice t think the mindset has changed about working. People have been brainwashed to identify with their careers and to think of "hard work" as the greatest virtue.

Life can be so much more than that. Stop romanticizing spending your life making someone who doesn't need the money even wealthier.
People are so much more than that.

Yes, but also, do not romanticize, do what you love, the money will follow. Because, many such plans do not have any place for money to flow in. And cash flow is the thing that can really set you free to do your dreams.

Sometimes you have to get creative about financing, but many people are doing it. ThemTube demonitized many creators, and the creators went out and got sponsors and donations and...

I have a very strange relationship with this.

Over the years, I have been in a position (3 times), to do exactly as you say.
I could have been taking it easy by now.

I now consciously stay away from constructing the future. (with the possible exception of steemit).

feeling alive is more important than material wealth.

I don't have kids, so it makes it an easy option, I understand that, BUT i think what really gets people down about life, in the west especially - is debt.
(and there is no one to blame for that except the individual).

Living in a great many places all over in this planet - I have seen the real poor living day to day - but in no debt -and are far happier, than someone in a detached house with a mortgage, and a car on finance...

That feeling of owing is the drip drip soul destroyer..not getting up to make your daily bread...

It is indeed. And, all the fed notes, are... more debt.
It sucks the life out of you, it sucks the life out of the world.
Thank goodness for cryptos. Don't care if they're not real, green backs aren't real either, very glad that they are not debt.

I feel the biggest thing about living in 3rd world country is that the amount of effort to get out of the gutter is pretty small. In The USSA, you have to have a decent job, so that you can afford the car to get there, so you can afford the house to live in so you can sleep to go to the job. It is quite costly, and the fall is hard. And getting back up is almost undoable without help.

...if you have no debt, getting ahead is very much easier anywhere...(but it's all relative)

The US has been living on cheap money (well, the children's and grandchildren's stolen money) for too long.
The readjustment will be painful, I fear...
