What if not gods looking like us but we are looking like them?
When Zeus wanted to have some witnesses for his glory, he wanted to create something which will hail for him.
It was human and Prometheus was appointed for this. He gave the fire to humanity. But there was a problem, he gave god's appearance to human. So human was created as looking like gods. But it must be a man, not a woman. Because god is someone "masculine". Other gods were angry about this situation, in the end of story they created "Pandora's box" which has all bad things from gods. It was a bad gift with the love of other gods. It was kind of punishment for man. And they called it "woman".
Let's continue with our main subject now. Greek people had their gods and duties. They respected them, so they had to give gifts and reputation. Greeks started to erect statues which are learned from Eastern cultures. But it had to be perfect so if it is going to be perfect, it had to look like gods and masculine. Of course, they knew about Prometheus and human created with the appearance of gods. Young, muscled, tall, strong man body...
