Should I choose a hard or soft mattress?

@carolynseymour Price doesn't matter, quality does. Do some research on the best mattresses. Not only buyer's feedback but also what people in the medical branch advice. It isn't something that you should safe money on as a good night rest is very important but it doesn't necessarily means that expensive is better.

The point that I'm trying to make, is that a mattress cannot cure all your sleeping problems. You may be highly stressed or have insommia and no matter what kind of mattress you have, you just can't fall asleep unless you take a sleeping pill. I'm suggesting that one should not fall for the high pitch sales talk that a more expensive mattress is better for you.

I certainly don't disagree with that. Picking a bad mattress has a higher impact than a good one in the sense that a bad one will hunt you through the night, while a good one is just one disturbance less.

Opinions are free ( meaning worthless) . Mine is very soft. I would prefer hard, but have not yet moved to the floor. Finances dictate decisions. Try adjustable if you can afford it, or buy a piece of foam... How much does it matter to you?

Yes, finances do dictate decisions sometimes. I'm a fortunate person, I can sleep in a recliner, on carpet, in water, or on an airplane. However, I do know that if you sleep on a worn out mattress, you can wake up with a backache. I'm just making a point that the higher price of a mattress does not guarantee you a good night's sleep.
