Video: This is What Unschooling Looks Like (for our family)

in life •  7 years ago

Have you ever wondered what unschooling actually looks like in practice? Here is a sneak peak into our little family and how unschooling has manifested over the past 5 years!

Unschooling is a natural way of learning, allowing children (and adults) to learn at their own pace, based on their own interests. There is no curriculum, and lots of trust.

We go on lots of adventures, day trips, epic road trips, and spend a lot of time exploring nature. Things have changed since we made this video, now we live with our #RethinkingTribe and have 7 unschooled children all living in one spot. I will post a video about that next.

Do you unschool? What are you thoughts on allowing learning to unfold naturally for your children?

It reminds me of Ivan Illich. :) I'll plan to homeschool my kids also.

Awesome! Stoked to find you on here. I definitely plan on unschooling when I have kids. Thanks for sharing your journey!

Hey I followed you!!! Are you in Arkansas now?

Great to connect on here! Stacey and I were in Arkansas for about 9 months farming in the Ozarks until we found ourselves here in Asheville, NC. Been here almost 2 years now. :)

Nice and interesting post, I love practical learning

Thanks <3

Yes yes and yes! Thank you guys for sharing and inspiring others. We only recently learned the term unschooling, though we have already have friends who successfully homeschool. So we decided we'd call our method world schooling with our little one.

For us it's all about supporting family attachment as well as you said allowing learning to unfold naturally. Much love and you have our votes and following.

Yes, I think we will unschool as much as possible, but we have to call it homeschooling. Our son Martin is not even school age yet and we are already struggling with the Norwegian Child Welfare Services. One reason they gave for making a case on us, was that we in open kindergarten once mentioned that home-school is an alternative to state run school and that we are considering to home-school Martin.
