4 Key Differences Between Expecting Success and Making Success Work

You might not even realize it but you can change the key difference between expectations and commitments when you manage your habits of resistance. When you resist change most people make it into a big deal. Instead, managing your resistance to change is really about knowing how to Loosen Your Hold on Expectations. When it comes to creating change, being able to adapt and truly manage expectations is a skill that takes some practice.

Most of the time our behavior is a learned habit. So if we've been taught to expect certain things and to resist change then those things will be what we do. So if there are things that you're resisting and you want to make a difference in your life, then keep coming back to these key words: "I can do it." "I can get it done." These key words can lead to action.

When you keep coming back to these words over again it reminds yourself that you can do it. It keeps you focused on the end result and that's what's important. By staying positive and focusing on the future you have the ability to actually create the future that you want. When things don't go as planned you usually blame yourself. But by staying positive and by reminding yourself that you can do it you take the negative out of the equation and move towards your desired outcome.

One way to develop habit resilience is to constantly ask yourself, "When things don t go as I plan I can do it." This requires that you rewire yourself. Sometimes this requires making changes in your thinking and in your behaviors. For example, rather than always believing that you won t get what you want to accomplish, challenge your belief with the belief that you will get what you want. This can be difficult at first but when you constantly fight the good path for your goals you will find that it becomes easier to maintain that positive attitude and remain resolute in keeping that positive attitude.

Another way to develop resilience is to realize that there will be some things that go wrong and you can expect that things go wrong. You can be resolute in the fact that things will go wrong but you can also prepare for the fact that things will go right. Thus you can remain positive about the potential problems but you can also prepare for the possible solutions.

The ability to stay positive in the face of change is an ongoing habit. This means that it is part of your personality development. You may have to try many different things before you discover which ones work for you. Most people who are able to resist change tend to be able to bounce back from setbacks a lot more quickly. Thus they tend to get back on their feet and keep on trying.

The third key difference between dealing with the unexpected and the inevitable is your ability to prepare for the unexpected. When we make changes we usually expect that things will go the other way. In the case of making changes to our habits this expectation can result in disappointment and failure. If you are resolute you will be able to deal with the disappointment that inevitably comes when you make changes to your life. Your ability to face the tide will enable you to make changes that will lead to better results than if you had remained fixed on your previous expectations.

The fourth key difference between being resolute and expecting failure is the amount of time that you need to invest in order to develop habit resilience. While it may seem that trying to make changes to your habits is a very big commitment it is not necessarily a long term project. Once you begin applying the ideas you learn you can move from a trial and error basis to a more systematic, realistic and consistent approach. You also learn the benefits of having a positive attitude and developing habit resilience as you make changes to your life.
