How can you be empathetic? Empathetic people have an intrinsic sense of compassion and concern for others. Their caring comes from within and not from a need to make others feel good. Others are their closest confidants. They listen without judgment and they are available whenever needed.
The word 'empathy' derives from two Greek roots - etymology and patema. Etymology suggests that empathetic experience came from the Greek, meaning "to relate to the feelings of others". This was one of the first definitions of empathy found in the works of the ancient Greek philosopher Aristotle. In the modern Greek language, empathetic experience is described as the ability to "put oneself in the other's shoes".
Empathy is the ability to truly understand what another person is feeling from their perspective, which is, their innermost point of view. The empathetic person is able to put oneself in the other person's shoes. This is different than pity, which is a subjective emotion and thus cannot fully be understood or appreciated by another person. Pity is related to another person's feeling of loss, which is why people who are suffering from cancer often exhibit signs of sympathy. However, sympathy is not an accurate expression of love and hence the term "pity" is inappropriate.
There are several distinct types of people who can best demonstrate empathetic abilities. Some of these are caring parents, teachers, mentors, and religious leaders. An individual can also be an empathic person if they can truly listen to what they have to say, and if they truly care about someone else and want them to succeed. This can be shown when an individual helps someone else by providing a shoulder to lean or cry on, and when they show genuine concern for the well-being of someone else. There are even some people who can bring others out of a tough situation by simply explaining something to them in such a way that they are able to see it clearly without interpreting it from a negative point of view.
Being empathetic to the point of bordering on obsessive-compulsive disorder requires a lot of self-control, because what an ordinary person feels deep down inside can become very overwhelming and disturbing. A typical person can feel depressed, angry, resentful, and many other emotions when they are empathetic to others. This can be the result of the inner conflict within an individual as they struggle to maintain control over their negative emotions. Control is difficult to maintain when you are empathic for someone else. It is also quite easy for you to inadvertently put others down, because your emotions begin to override your logical thinking, and you end up saying and doing things in a way that you really do not believe but that person would perceive as mean or wrong.
People with empathetic abilities are in some ways like Star Trek characters. The ones with star trek skills have a hard time going up against those who are not. Those who have the ability to bring others out of a tragic situation are able to work with those who have little to nothing, and sometimes are able to get along with those who are totally ignorant to their existence. Some of the most important people in human history have exhibited empathic skills, and they can usually be found among the list of those who have made huge contributions to society.
The difference between being empathetic and clairvoyant is that a clairvoyant does not receive messages. The ones with empathic skills receive only impressions or interpretations. They can be the most caring, giving people in the world, while a clairvoyant may have a sad past and be unable to handle other people's feelings. To put it simply, the latter experiences sadness when he does not understand what is happening around him. However, when someone displays clairvoyant abilities, they usually have an incredible power to perceive what is happening in the future.
It would probably be a good idea for you to start using empathetic skills if you want to make big changes in your life. If you feel bad about yourself or if you feel like no one understands you, then try to find other ways to help yourself. Being empathetic does not mean that you have to use the word pathetic all the time, because that just sounds like a person who is low and is not likely to succeed. On the contrary, people who are empathic are also high achievers and very successful.
