Why is getting out of a belief/faith state of mind the best thing you can do for your psyche? Dwelling in the State of Knowing is the key to your own Knowledge and saving grace. Gnostic mind aspires to, and eventually attains, not faith but a certain interior knowing that liberates one from unconsciousness and eventually transports one beyond Prison Planet (Bounded by Matter). Gnosis is a varied Phenomenon, because there occurs a significant altering of consciousness that transports the knower beyond the limitations of personal and worldly consciousness. When it comes to Gnosticism there is emphasizes on understanding and the insights derived from understanding; this understanding was not common and mundane but embodies a higher knowledge (of Self), a more profound insight into things divine and Hue-Man (human), than is ordinarily available to Faith or Philosophy.

Gnostic held that this Saving Power/Knowledge doesn't arise merely from rational processes of thought based on the memorization of phrase/precepts (though sacred) or studying books; nevertheless, like all mystics, they compose of manuscripts amplifying their visionary insights and attempting to communicate to this Human Psyche/Perception/Experience. The Liberating Light/Gnosis results in transcendent consciousness (Separation form Matter). Core of Gnosticism is indeed a Spiritual Experience, grounded in vision and union, that does not lend its self to language, theology or philosophy, but the close affinity to and expresses itself through myth. In this context, myth does not mean stories that are not true, but rather, stories that embody truths of a different order than the dogmas of theology or the theories of philosophy. Myths were held in high regard back in days of antiquity (Pre-Dynastic Kemet/Egypt, Sumer, Budha, Greek, Hindu, etc.). Our Ancestors Knew the World is imperfect. Its flawed because it was created in a flawed manner (By your one in only God~Yahweh/Jehovah/Zeus/Ialdabaoth).
