Psilocybin mushrooms and the first human trials for severe depression

I'm in the middle of reading "The Righteous Mind", holy shit is it good so far and I'm only 50% in.
Anyway it talks about different modules in the brain that get triggered when certain events happen and this is where we get our morality from. Understanding the 6 modules and how they evolved is very important in ensuring a super happy life.
ANYWAY!
One of the premises is that we are 90% chimp, 10% bee. Not to be taken literally of course, but there are certain things that trigger the "Hive switch" where we start to put the ego aside and feel connected and one with the universe, life, kin, etc.
There are a couple things that can trigger this "bigger then me" feeling and one of those is Psilocybin.
It's not just a "drug" that takes you for a ride for fun. It's awesome (in the literal sense!) because it triggers our hive mind and it makes us feel something we all to rarely feel in our age.
