Today I completed the first of the challenges issued to me. This was from the massive list from my bestie.
The challenge was to hug someone who I love, that was not my husband or kiddo, for 30 seconds.
Sounds easy right?
So my mom was over. The perfect target. This should be a piece of cake, right? (Incidentally, she was over to bring me some cake).
So I say to her, stand there I am going to hug you. And I set the timer.
5 seconds - this is apparently the standard hug length, because she tried to let go at this point.
10 seconds - I look at the clock. 20 seconds to GO?
15 seconds - I start to cry.
20 seconds - she is getting a bit worried now! Whats Wrong?!
25 seconds - tears are fading - joy is creeping into my heart.
30 seconds - its over, but my kiddo has joined in the hug-a-thon and is hugging both of our legs.
I wish I had taken a picture of my hugging her - but it didnt occur to me to do so, until just now.
My first challenge down... and I feel like something has seriously shifted in my core.
If you have never done thing - I challenge YOU to do the same. Pick someone that you love, not your spouse or kidlets - and hug them for 30 seconds. It may change your life.
