I do not know why my blood was clotting, I first experienced it at the city hospital at the time that I had the surgery for my arm to repair my AV fistula. It was also the time that I was not taking any much of my vitamins like my vitamin K2 MK-7, Calcium tablets, and my multivitamins. It was also the time that I am already waterlogged with fluids and was anemic because of the findings later on about my hemoglobin count after I had gone home and was tested for a complete blood count from my current dialysis center. The count was around close to 90 and I opted-in for using EPO injections three times per week for about two months rather than getting blood transfusion.
Now I encountered clotting a few days ago where my nurses have to terminate my treatment session because of the blood clot in my dialysis lines and to the dialyzer which made the dialyzer leak because it got damaged prompting the termination of treatment time. I still have about 17 minutes to complete the treatment time but it got wasted there plus I didn't get the full fluid removal so it got backlogged for another session to remove it. It is not much of a concern for me but the factor of not getting the full benefit of cleaning of my blood is what I got worried for because of course I wanted a quality treatment session without problems and complications in doing it.
The clotting also manifested itself yesterday which yielded the same result but my dialyzer survived or maybe it degraded its function and I hope that it was not the case. But surprisingly the head nurse told me that it seems that my arterial part of my fistula is weak in delivering enough pressure to the dialysis machine which is why the machine couldn't suck enough blood and causes it to alarm regarding the pressure. I was told to exercise my hand to make it rather grow and intensify the blood flow so that it would not cause alarms regarding a questionable low blood pressure in the arterial part of my AV fistula.
But looking on my fistula it is visible more powerful now because all of the button scars got raised up because of the pressure after it got repaired a few months ago which is why I was surprised that it was the factor that the head nurse had pointed out that the arterial part is not giving enough pressure. However I was observing that maybe if I will lay my arm down and not put it up on the lazy boy chair might make a difference because there seems to be a change in pressure when I lay down my arm lower to my heart and I still have to prove that in my next dialysis session maybe tomorrow.
I was wondering if my red blood cells had gone so high that my blood had gone thick and thus making it to get sluggish clot in the blood lines and the dialyzer which affected the pressure as the head nurse was pointing out to me. However I am suspecting that I have too much red blood cells so I asked for a request about getting my complete blood count test to see if it was the case, that I have too much red blood cells already which is not good for dialyzers as it would cause it to get damaged when a larger than normal volume of blood pass through it. So if that was the case I just have to taper-off or maybe eliminate my use of EPO injections which in the other hand will make me save some money in the process.
It is not financially good to replace dialyzers because of its high cost and that is what I am worried about for this new clotting issue that I want to solve once and for all because replacing dialyzers too often will surely break me. So I must find a way what really causes blood clotting and the inadequate blood flow of the arterial part of my AV fistula because otherwise I will get in too much trouble about my dialysis treatment sessions. My temporary and self-medicating solution was to use aspirin so that it will thin-out my blood, it will also protect me in one of the common complications of using a high flux dialyzer which is being at risk of chills for the reason that unwanted chemicals from the water could also penetrate the membranes of the dialyzer because of its bigger pores which I believe was the case for my dialysis center because I am always experiencing low-level issues of chills which actually makes the blood thick.
