365 Day That Count - Day 267 - British Airways fail part 2 ๐Ÿ‘Ž Another day at Heathrow, a new plane & finally getting off the ground! โœˆ๏ธ

Having got next to no sleep at our hotel in WATFORD (?) we woke up, realised we'd missed breakfast and were told we had to check out in half an hour. We both laughed at that, after the events of the night before we were not going to be rushed so I ran a huge bath and mum made coffee.

Finally, about an hour and a half later, we made our way downstairs, encouraged more by hunger than anything else. We left our bags at reception to be loaded on to the coach that was coming to fetch the 60 or so passengers from our cancelled flight who had also been unceremoniously dumped at the hotel in the early hours of the morning. Upon finding the restaurant we also found lunch. Hats off to the Watford Inn, at least someone was making money off BA. They provided a buffet that could be described as modest at best and must've cost them less than half of what they were paid per person, we both quite enjoyed this however, by this point, food was food, so the thought of BA being ripped off gave us a sense of warped satisfaction.

An hour later we piled onto the waiting couch and made our way back to Heathrow to give British Airways and getting home another shot. โœˆ๏ธ

After another "last" bottle of wine (we had both decided to have a sober month when we got home), a serious dรฉjร  vu moment at exactly the same restaurant we'd been to the night before and my first boomerang attempt (https://www.instagram.com/p/BZbjX-LFqy6/?taken-by=daisylouisad) we made our way to the gate to board and hopefully take off this time!

We'd been told two slightly reassuring things during the course of the day. 1) the plane we were flying on this time was (a little) newer than the one that they had now determined could not be repaired, I don't want to spend too much time thinking about the fact that for over 4 hours they were planning to fly us across the world on what was now effectively scrap metal! ๐Ÿ˜ฑ And 2) we both qualified for โ‚ฌ600 in compensation. Although we knew this would take months of fighting, it's a sizeable amount of money that almost covers the cost of our return tickets and in doing so definitely takes the sting out of our experience. It still doesn't mean I will pay any money to fly BA again. If I can cover the whole thing with air miles, perhaps, but otherwise, no thank you. I don't like the fact that their entire fleet of planes are older than I am, some almost twice my age!

One would've thought that after the last 24 hour debacle they would ensure this flight ran smoothly and on time, but alas, we took off over an hour late and aside from the inedible food, one of the two toilets - serving about 130 people - broke a few hours into the flight, meaning the other required cleaning before use for the rest of the journey (I may claim for the pack of face wipes we went through ๐Ÿ˜…).

Slow clap for the world's worst airline, the one and only; British Airways! ๐Ÿ‘

Love,

Daisy xx
