We visited a tiny village called La Asunción to visit the indigenous Huarpe community who still live a very traditional life. This village and its people has now been protected by the tourist board to ensure their story survives.
We were incredibly lucky to be part of this scheme - to be invited into the locals lives for a few days to experience what life is like for someone living here.
The famous mate tea is such a big part of the culture here in Argentina. From the indigenous people, to the businessmen in Buenos Aires, you are never very far from a cup.
Followers of my blog will now how much I love mate too, and I enjoyed taking these pictures of the process of preparing a cup. Humberto was our guide as we navigated the dry desert surroundings, and always there to prepare a hot drink to warm us up.
Seems like you had a great experience! Sharing with people who have different culture than us always leaves us with a lot of learnings!
