So here is a picture that I took some 10 days ago. It looks as though I am going to have a good crop of figs. Do you like figs? I have heard of people that really like figs and some people actually hate figs for one reason or another.
Some think that cause of fig wasps that enter the fruit to lay eggs and then die in the fig. Well some of us do eat the wasp that is digested by the fig itself. Now, I am no expert. I will leave an article as a source and you can check it out further.
As for me I don't mind eating a fig that had digested a wasp, just as much as I don't mind eating a chicken that digested a grasshopper.
My late dad was a Postal Carrier in the 60's. I guess in those days the people he would deliver mail to would give him things, like the fruit that grew in their yards. He took home some figs and I looked at it, as it was strange to me. As a kid I would ask my mom, what is this? She told me it was figs that was given to my dad from his route. So I ate it and thought it tasted really sweet. Well, I was hooked from that point.
I would always look forward to my dad bringing home figs again.
Now decades later, I and my wife at the time bought this house that I live at now. It already had a fig tree in the backyard. They call these figs, mission. Some years later my wife at the time separated from me and later divorced me. We just bought the house, so there was no equity in the house.
So I kept the house, I did have to get roommates as I couldn't make those mortgage payments on my own. I used to always wish that if my wife at the time had to leave, why not leave before we bought the house? Well, the grass is not always greener on the other side. She went off to marry other guys and to divorce other guys.
That was my mistake, I married a divorced woman. Even Jesus warned of marrying a divorced person, but I guess I didn't read that scripture too well, I guess I was too starry-eyed to pay attention to the warning of the scriptures.
Here is that scripture, as it is written, with Jesus speaking, He saith unto them, Moses because of the hardness of your hearts suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so. And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery. Matthew 19:8-9. Well, that was my fault and people even told me not to marry her, but I didn't listen. The price one has to pay.
So I am still here in this house, and it has been over 32 years since I moved in and the fig tree is still strong and producing fruit. I do look forward to these figs getting ripe.
Let's end with a scripture, as it is written, And when he saw a fig tree in the way, he came to it, and found nothing thereon, but leaves only, and said unto it, Let no fruit grow on thee henceforward for ever. And presently the fig tree withered away. Matthew 21:19.
