I envision a world in the near future - a world without nations, bound only by the commonality of ideas.
I believe that the digital age of information - where any concept can be learned by anyone in a matter of minutes - could be the final tipping point, the last major hurdle to overcome until we can achieve the automated Utopia that scientists and scribes have been predicting for hundreds of years.
And new technologies like Steemit will help us to achieve this next step in our evolution!
I envision a world with a 100% unemployment rate, but also a 0% poverty rate. A pure and basic form of non-coercive capitalism, operated by free men and women, where the hard work of the individual is rewarded according to it's value, rather than arbitrary metrics such as duration or seniority.
The digital tribes of the future will settle disputes without weapons, and grow prosperous without slave labor.
The basic principles of the Industrial Society that have stood for 300 years will finally crumble and give way to society where the problems of employment and manpower are solved with technology, and the humans who remain will be left to pursue their genuine strengths and passions.
I believe the Governments of the future could be disbanded and fade into distant memory, no longer needed or wanted for the protection of well-informed and well-equipped communities. Whether or not that happens, I am certain that the corporations of the future will be challenged by increasingly educated individuals and unregulated crowdfunding groups, whose buying power and economies of scale will eventually equal or eclipse that of the most powerful companies.
Some people refer to this impending age as the Post-Modern or Information society.
In an odd way, however I see it as a parallel to ancient times.
We will be a world of Hunters and Gatherers, answering to no-one other than the tribe we choose.
Instead of slaying paleolithic creatures for food, we will hunt and gather information for it's value, and share it freely within our tribes.
This all may sound like optimistic gibberish.
But the fact remains that technology is changing the world faster than any of us can predict.
From the development of Graphene, to Blockchain technology, to the seemingly overnight success of Augmented Reality video games - human knowledge and development is expanding at an exponential rate, and I'm thrilled that we can be a small part of it!
Keep on Steeming! :)
