Life is Really Short, so Don't Waste Time... But Wait, Here's a Dumb Question...

If #life really IS so short, why do we spend so much time and energy DOING things we claim to really not like? Conversely, why do we claim to LIKE so many things we never seem to find the time to actually DO? Does that seem strange, to you?

Exactly... and that has to start with some sense of self-awareness; recognizing that we are even caught up in this strange hamster cage of mostly doing things some exterior "them" seems to be pushing for...

We have to think twice what are we doing with our life.Only thing is guaranted in our life is death and we still doing every thing for this short life time.We can't take anything with us except good deeds. This life is only a examination hall and we all are busy to decorate this examination hall.Strange isn't it.

We humans are motivated by strange things; well, at least many of us are. Makes most sense to "do good" while we are here.

Well the obvious reason is that we have to eat and sleep and have shelter........ and so therefore we have to work at a job that we don't want to go to.

Of course we have hope that things will change for the better in the future....

I suppose I should say that I have it"better than most" in the sense that I work for myself and mostly get to do what I want rather than what I have to. However, it remains a lot of work, and sometimes I find I'd much rather just be sitting around watching the grass grow.

Its in human nature to fancy things that are out of reach!!!

Ah yes, the "the grass is greener" principle.

Yes indeed!!!

I think when we don’t have time for things we are drawn towards the positives and the fun aspects of those things.

One day I would love to try out blacksmithing! It looks really fun and I think I might like it. That just taking into account the funnier sides of it. There are a bunch of things I won’t like about it but I’ve not had to experience those first hands since I’ve never done blacksmithing before.

It not only seems strange. It is actually very strange. We don't like school because of the severe physical and emotional stress school puts us through but then we know that we have to be educated to be responsible members of the society. Therefore if somebody does not like school but still goes anyway, I would understand. But what marvels me is the way people grudgingly hatea particular thing, and the thing is not productive to them in anyway and will not add value to their life, but they are still doing it. Why are you doing it?

I am fortunate that I enjoy my work(construction). I don't always like it; getting up early every morning, 4 deg. F temperatures, etc., but in general I do get a sense of satisfaction from what I spend a great deal of time on.
That said, I would love to have more time to play basketball, shoot my bow, fish, ....
Thanks for the reminder that I have so many cool things to do! I will have more enjoyment and energy doing the things I need to, remembering what is still in front of me each day.

It's a matter of perspective : do we live in gratitude for the life we have been given ...or do we live in self centered ness thinking life should be different , more on my terms . Acceptance or discontentment. I personally go back forth between the two . Spending money on Amazon and in the same breath complaining about the job that gave me money for those things .

One thing I like is to give gratitude where it's due, so here goes:
A year ago I joined Steemit. I was welcomed by 3 guys - I dubbed them: "The Welcoming Committee"
YOU, @denmarkguy were among that trio and I would like to say THANK YOU!

I don't know what you are talking about, I found a way to get paid for what I was doing online anyways ;)

In the first world countries I think I can say that it's true that there are always some things that we have to do that we are never going to enjoy but there are many that we are simply choosing to dislike rather than appreciating the things that brought us to do them. It's pure attitude that makes us hate some of the things we have to do.

I will allow however that there are choices that we have backed ourselves into. Sometimes we get stuck doing things we hate through sheer stupidity.

I think we have it backwards. We are supposed to be doing things we enjoy the majority of the time. I have found this out after many years...live for what you want to do now. There may not be a tomorrow.
