This is Broken

So. It turns out that it's not only my mind that is broken but also my one and only mobile phone. I've had this sad thing for about 2 years now without any slight intention of upgrading it to a phone that actually works. Sometimes it's so annoying that it makes me want to throw it straight to the landfill of electronic waste so others can find some other tiny things inside that can be magically turned into cash... but hey, I am not that wasteful. Okay, let's cut to the chase, I just can't afford to have a new phone at this moment. Mind you, this thing still works!

If any of you have heard of planned obsolescence, it just means "something is made to be broken", for the massive profit of course. Big corporations are making lots of money off our throwaway lifestyle. They prey on our vulnerability and gullibility. Because to have things is to be happy and free, at least this is how we are convinced by society to live our lives. In the end, we realized that everything can be taken away from us in an instant. None of these things really matter.

Why the need to have slightly newer, slightly more beautiful, and slightly better things? FOMO? Maybe we want to fit in and impress our friends because unconsciously we are Our Things. Now cheers to the enlightened ones who no longer think this way.

Anyway, I am not here to get into the politics of mindless consumerism because that topic deserves its own post. I am here to bore you with the details of my broken Self and phone of course. To be fair, this Asus phone had been good to me. It had taken a while before it started dying. I don't think the company has some tick-tocking microchip that sets their phones to break after a certain period of time. Well, who knows? I can't remember how many times my phone slipped out of my hand into the toilet, hit the ground with a crack, and fell into some strangers' hands. I got drunk, lost it, and magically found its way back to me. It had been repaired way too many times. Way too many memories with it too. It is dying because of me. This is love.

I don't know why I am not the type who easily buys a new gadget or has to have the newest model worth $1000. Maybe this is why I don't fit in... finally, it really is dying. I feel like it's hindering my dreams now. Even my sleep. Because it's also my one and only camera, and it just means that soon you won't get any more diabolic selfies. But hey the apps are still working and all! So I hope you can get some useful ideas from the anatomy of my dying phone up here. YOU ARE the apps that are installed on your phone. The phone screen is a bit blurry due to pasta sauce.

Call me!

All proceeds from this post will be used to buy the latest iPhone 11 Pro Max

I am just kidding.
