One day with Humayun Ahmed

in life •  6 years ago

I owe to Sir Humayun Ahmed.

It is impossible to reciprocate the happy moments I have enjoyed in reading his books. If I recall those days, was waiting to publish his new books and could not fulfill reading thirst until read the book. This the way he hypnotized us with his amazing writing. Himu, Nondito Noroke, Daruchini Dip and so many of his renowned books that made a mark in my heart.

Humayun Ahmed, the legendary writer, king of short novel, dramatist, screenwriter, filmmaker, song writer, lecturer of Dhaka University was born in 13 November 1948 and passed away in 19 July 2012.

It is common and agreed by many people that he taught and inspired the young generation to read books and made it as habit. This is huge achievement for a writer to bring the young generation under one umbrella to read books where this group of people are frustrated sometimes and go different direction of life like drug, snatching etcetera.

This is also told that Ekushe book fair got its high popularity due to his tremendous writing which attracted the new readers.

It’s my bad luck that I could not meet him when he was alive but few months back I made a journey to Nuhash Polli, the dream home of Humayun Ahmed and tried to feel him with imagination.

As mentioned in the headline of this article, I spend one day with Humayun Ahmed with my imagination. I walked through the garden and beside the pond where he used to spend his time.

There is a small tree house and my daughter went up and enjoyed a lot. There is a chess yard in the middle of the field. It reminds me the drama Oyomoy where this type of big chessboard was used.

Everything was like a picture only the man who dreamed it was not available. Everywhere there was green as he loved trees very much. The garden were full of herbs. There is a place where he made prayer place for his mother with marble stones. Everything reminds me his touch of every item. At last I went to the place where his body was kept in peace. I offered some prayers for his soul. Then, I have taken some snaps which shared in this article.

We as a nation have lost such writer who rarely born again. His writing will remain in people’s mind decades after decades.

Thanks for reading.
