Do Arcades Teach Kids to Gamble? + Cinematic River Edit! [DTube Life Lesson Exclusive]

in life •  7 years ago

I remember going to places like Chuckeecheese when I was a kid and various different arcades and getting those tokens that you could use to play games to try and get as many arcade tickets as possible in order to redeem them for valuable prizes! Only when I was older did I realize that those reedemable items were found in any local dollar store. My wife and I were talking about how the underlying principle in those arcades essentially teach kids how to gamble. You take money, put it into a game and hope that your game wins for a prize that is hopefully more than the prize you paid. I know that some people may disagree with this and think "they're just playing games." And that's cool - I believe that as long as you teach your children to be good stewards of their money and what they've been given and what they've earned, they're not going to have a gambling addiction. However, I do believe that if they're not taught those principles, the arcade system is very similar to gambling in a sense.

another good video man. Kid arcades are introduction to gambling lol but its a good way to learn to deal with risk and reward. Like I would balance my tokens with ticket machines and play. Odd ball question do you know if you thump up a video or comment on dtube do you lose money from your wallet? Because it looks like my wallet decreased in value.. :(

Yea it teaches the thrill, the desire to play to win, but maybe also the worth of money and how arcades are a scam xD at the end of the day you pay to have fun no?
