Yesterday crypto prices dropped as rumors spread about an exchange. We are still living with this market panic nonsense today. 
There are several issues to understand. The first and primary lesson is: Never keep your currency on an exchange. The third party risks are unacceptable. Exchanges can be hacked. Exchanges can fail. Exchanges are vulnerable.
Keep your cryptos on a personal wallet that is air gapped from the internet.
The other important issue is to only rely on blockchain based tokens. Steemit.com is a front end web application to the Steem blockchain. Steem tokens and SteemPower are not held by Steemit.com. The value is held on a diversified ledger called the Steem Blockchain. The value remains as long as the blockchain remains.

Looks like it has pretty good support at $2.50 which is 2.5x it's USD value around 6 - 9 months ago.
The exchange wasn't hacked it appears it was a phishing site that looked exactly like binance but had dots below the i and the a that some how got a hold of users api keys and was able to trade with the accounts.
Binance was able to halt trading and withdrawls and actually reversed all the damages to a point where nothing was loss.
