Thanksgiving day 3 day challenge- Day 1

in life •  7 years ago  (edited)

I was nominated for the 3 day Thanksgiving day challenge by @coolguy123 .

Rosco

Rosco is our rescue dog that we got when he was 4 years old. He is a basset hound. When my wife started working on me to get a dog i was very against it because we have very busy and I didn't feel it was fair to a dog to keep it alone or in a cage all day. So as an effort to meet in the middle (because that is what you do when you are married) I started looking into lazy ass dogs because i knew i was going to end up being the one walking the dog and such.

The search

It was pretty easy, I googled lazy + couch potato + dog = basset hound

The deal

Almost instantly my wife was on the hunt. She found a dog that she knew was the one on craigslist.com . I mean what can't you find on there? So she took some undisclosed amount of money to meet a stranger somewhere and get a dog. When I do something like that it is prostitution but not today. She came home with this little guy.

He was super skinny with his ribs showing and scared of everything. I felt so bad for him and at the same time i was furious that someone treated an animal this way. I was also concerned because i had a 4 and 6 year old in the house now with an abused unpredictable animal. My wife refused to let me contact the previous owners most likely because she didn't want to have to go bail me out of jail because she knows how i get with stuff like this. So i run to the store and get him some special soft dog food and dog shampoo and treats. Upon my return home he is cowaring in the corner and pees when i get close but i butter him up with some treats and he realizes i mean him no harm. That was when the first pic was taken. After being able to pet him you could feel where his ribs had been kicked and caved in, there is an actual indentation in the shape of a steel toed boot. I still have not gotten the last owners info out of my wife but it I ever do I am going to kick his teeth down his throat. The next day he went straight to the vet for all his workups, got his teeth cleaned, micro chiped, found out he was 25 pounds underweight, all the shots, everything.

Fast forward

Now we are a couple months in the future from getting him. He has turned into "my dog" and my wife is grumpy because he only listens to me well. I explain to her that that is how dogs work. I am his Alpha. He insists that he has to sleep on our bed and he muscles in between me and my wife because he is a jelous asshole and he will lay his head on my left arm and he has to have his paw on me so he can fall asleep so he feels safe. By now we are inseperable, he goes almost everywhere with me and rides shotgun everywhere. He really cleans house in drivethroughs because he is so adorable.

The point of all of this

The point is that i am thankful for this wonderful dog who really keeps me calm like a service dog and I am his protector. We make a great team and he is everything i could want in a dog. He is a good boy and he is lazy as hell. Like professional sleeper lazy.

He's adorable indeed! And what a great story, if a bit sad in parts, your blogs are always so entertaining, well, except for the car ones as I have 0 interest in cars, unless they break down :-D
PS - it's a bit early for thanksgiving isn't it?

Well, hey, though the name says thanksgiving, this isn't really about the thanksgiving, it's about thanking the people with a seven day challenge(although @doomsdaychassis has mentioned it as a 3 day challenge) and we need to thank 3 people every day who have done something. It may be the nature, the people, the animals or whatever it is.

Thanks, good day :)

That's a very cool challenge, gratitude is a such a great practice and spreads lots of wonderfully good vibes! I'll have to come check it out. 7 day challenges are definitely beyond me, I'm too inconsistent, so I can see a benefit in adapting to a shorter time frame -
having said that, I will probably only carry out the challenge in real life, as my ability to finish what I start is rather lacking too...as evidenced by my growing list of half finished blogs...but it's all good, as we are all different :)

Abundant gratitude for your thanksgiving idea - I knew it wasn't about the celebration day ;) - and to @doomsdaychassis for his entertaining posts.

May the rest of your day be filled with cute ponies, funny memes and happy surprises ❀

Yeah, it's fun and we also have an opportunity to pay gratitude to someone who helped in any way.

I haven't got a chance yet to check your blogs, but I can say this challenge shouldn't take much of your time, and 7 days 7 blogs should be too much.

Give it a try, @doomsdaychassis is ready to nominate you, if not he, I will nominate you :)

Thanks for the wishes, you too have a good day :)

I am so full of gratitude now that you got me started, I don't even know where to begin! Yes it sounds like loads of fun, I'm sure I'll be able to finish the first post in a week.
PS - I am anti establishment, rules or patterns of any kind, and a societal dropout, so nomination is at your own risk ;)
My day was great thank you, a little birthday celebration at home for my youngest daughter who turned 10. Sushi & tiramisu cake & emoji balloons. I'm pretty sure you can't beat that :-D

Oh, nice to know that, you can begin it anytime you want, because these challenges are doing the round and every day there will be number of nominations, so this will continue for some time now.

I am anti establishment, rules or patterns of any kind, and a societal dropout, so nomination is at your own risk ;)

There are no hard rules as I mentioned earlier, this is just a kind of fun and relaxation from our daily work and a little effort to convey our gratitude to others. so, don't worry about rules and all, I would say just enjoy writing the a blog on this and convey your gratitude to who you think are deserving.

And, it's nice to know that your little daughter has turned 10, great news and I am sure you enjoyed the day, convey my wishes to her. :)

Thank you <3

so you don't want to be nominated?

I also have a phobia about competing against adorable dogs :)

lol

I have a great idea for a challenge, in fact I typed out a whole reply but it disappeared. Anyway, I think you would be perfect to start the challenge, so as soon as I get my act together, I'll communicate it to you :)

sounds good. i am brewing my own contest but i will need somone to make a post for me so i am working on that.

Cool! I could try help...a little I'm sure...as long as you don't mention me or nominate me! :-Dincognito-1911742_640.png

Oh, I misunderstood. I thought it was 3 days. Oops. I guess I need to nominate people also then huh.

My apologies @doomsdaychassis, I forgot to include the rules in yesterday's blog I think. Yeah, it's a 7 day challenge and 3 persons needs to be nominated, shouldn't be much difficult for you. Good day my friend. :)

Well thank you. As for the timing..... I just do what the challenges tell me to. :)

Thanks for accepting this and nice to know about your family and that rescuer dog ROSCO, great to know how you guys ended up bringing him home.

Thanks for everything, have a good day :)
