Arranging Kids' Room: A few tips from a father

Arranging Kids Room

I have come again with another child development and parenting issue. Before start, please have a look around your baby’s room or playing area. In most cases, you should have found toys and blocks are spreading here and there. Books and notebooks are open on the bed. The cap of the pen is not in place and so on. A chaotic scene at her area. Perhaps it will remain as it is until you, the parents intervene to clean and neatly arrange them. Many researchers pointed out that if the kids are being brought up in such a untidy way, it may cast a long term effect on their behaviour.

You should teach your kid to arrange her things from her early ages. It may be difficult, but you plan nicely and reward her with her achievements, you can instil a sense of tidiness in her behaviour. One of the easiest way is to classify the kid’s belongings, her fixtures and furniture and arrange them separately.

Toys

Toys are the most favourite possessions of your kids. They love to play with their toys, keep them close to them even when they are sleeping. Use One In, One Out technique to control the spraying of toys specially lego, action games or Barbie dolls. When a new is brought in the house, keep the older one away in a cupboard or donate to somebody else. Use open or transparent boxes or cabinets for storing the toys. They don’t need to search the whole collection to find her desired one. Keep the collection at a minimum.

Books

Your loved one may accumulate many books, play books, colouring books or other reading materials over time. Please arrange them according to classes such as books, notebooks, picture books, other reading materials in separate area. You may follow the colour code for arranging them. It will encourage them to grow a habit to arrange their books neatly. You may donate some story books or activity books that your kid is no longer using to local library.

Clothing

Kids are growing up so quickly. Their dresses are getting shorter rapidly. Please dispose the discarded clothing. You may use them for younger ones of the family. You can also donate them to charities. Your house will remain neat and clean and the distressed will be benefited.

Gadgets

Different gadgets like iPods, iPads or portable video game consoles are now as indispensable to the kids as their toys. Kids may put the gadgets, chargers or adapters around the room. Make a tech drawer for them. Teach your child to put this gadgets and chargers there. It will keep her room clean as well as keep them safe from any potential hazardous conditions.

Furniture

Too many furniture in your kid’s room restrict their movement. It reduces her playing area also. Keep a minimalistic arrangement of furniture there. Please dispose the slider, rocker or chairs your kid is no longer using. You may opt for foldable furniture. It helps in maintaining space and congruity.

Good information. I have three children myself and the most important thing I have found about their room is making sure that it is just that ... "their" room. I love the organization trust me I'm type A and that is important to me but I also like my kids to feel comfortable in their own room. It's a place they can go to relax or take a few moments to themselves. I do not allow televisions or computers or phones in their space. But they do have hands on things all around them. Just as an adult needs their own place they can retreat to so does a child. They need to feel comfortable in their room.
