LEARN TO ACCEPT OTHER'S OPINION

in life •  7 years ago  (edited)

I have been on the Internet for a long time now, especially in the anime community. Some may think that the anime community is something special or something weird, but trust me, we share a lot of traits with other entertainment fanbase, such as the K-Pop Fanbase, movie fanbase etc. One of them being the problem of "finding it hard to accept other's opinion".

So, what is opinion one may ask. Is it a fact? Does your opinion matters to others? According to google dictionary, opinion means a view or judgement formed about something, not necessarily based on fact or knowledge. Therefor, an opinion isn't a fact, it's mainly subjective. Opinions can differ and that's what make this world interesting and unique. It's because opinions differ that makes people to keep on innovating, to try to satisfy everyone regardless of their race, culture and background.

However, clashes in opinion may leads to a war. A lot of wars that happened in previous decades was caused by clashes in opinions and also people not knowing how to accept it. They want to force their opinion onto you as if it is a fact. They want you to have similar taste as them because they think that there taste is way more superior. But that doesn't work and will never work. Each of us are born and brought up differently. Our culture differs and out background differs. So it isn't that shocking that how we look at things are different compared to others. Sure you may say some will have interest in the same thing. But other than that thing, we all like separate stuffs. That's why some of us will join in a lot of community as we could. For example, an anime fan can be a gamer and also a book-worm at the same time. So of course those who joined a lot more communities will have a broader knowledge on stuffs and they tend to use more complicated words to explain their interest to us rather than using simple words like we do, but we must learn to accept their opinion and vice versa they must learn to accept ours too. Those who think that they are more knowledgeable than others need to remember that back then they also started at the place the people they hate are now standing on. They also started learning from zero.

So in conclusion, accepting other's opinion is a very important thing. It's something that one should adapt it in their daily lives. If we keep on denying other people's opinion on things, then we are the ones who will fall back from society because we kept on thinking what we have in our mind is always true and if someone clashes with it the he or she will be the one at wrong. We won't be able to keep up with society nowadays and getting laughed at or looked down from others. In the end the one getting hurt is always us. So that's why we should learn to accept other people's opinion and learn from them. That way we can get respected by people and also keep on with the modernizing society nowadays.

My opinions on anime rarely ever match public opinion. In the end, I just gave up in trying to fit in and just started watching what I wanted to watch rather than going with the crowd.

I'm fine with people enjoying what they like, but a lot of times, it's not even about that. It's about having an e-peen and taste validation which I'm allergic to. People will just claim whatever series they like to be the best ever, not just to them, but to everyone else, and that attitude does annoy, because it's no longer about having different tastes, it's about having "right" and "wrong" tastes.
