Hair Portrait and Free Writing

I took this selfies of myself yesterday just prior to going out for a dinner, and why I call it a hair portrait, is because the sole reason I took it was to document how fucking awesome my hair looked. The importance of documenting this is because the moment of my hair looking beautiful is so fleeting, otherwise the world would not know that it looked good. So here it is, my hair looking mighty fine, for all of 12.5 minutes, before I stepped outside.

My hair has the inability to hold any sort of shape, other than pin straight, and it drives me crazy. How I wish I had wavy hair, we always want what we can't get, sigh. Okay I am kinda happy to have shiny and silky hair, but it doesn't look good naturally because it's so fine. I always try to torture and mess it up so it would look more fluffy. The curly haired girls probably try to do the exact opposite and smooth theirs out.

I once was a hair model for an old friend from primary school, when she had just graduated as a hair dresser. She wanted to make my hair look super big and curly, like a poodle, and I was so into it. I warned that my hair doesn't hold a curl well, and she'd have to work some sort of magic if she wanted it to be fluffy. She laughed it off and curled, teased and hairsprayed my hair into a big glorious poof. It looks awesome, but I said to her that you know this is only gonna be like this for 10 minutes and then it's gonna starts to straighten out. She laughed and didn't believe, but low and behold, my stubborn hair got its way, she always does. My hairdresser was bewildered by it and had to keep adding more volume with hairspray between shots. I wish I had pictures of that shoot, but I don't, it was some 6 years ago, and also that was the last time I've been to the hairdresser.

I have no beef with them, but I also do not trust hairdressers, nor do I want to pay a shit ton for something I am fully capable of doing myself. I just cut my hair shorter a few days ago, so it would hold up volume a little bit better. I no longer colour my hair, but when I had it dark, major Snow White vibes, I had to put poison on my scalp once a months, and I don't think that would be good in the long run. Took me some serious work to get that dark dye out of my hair, and in the process I did damage it quite a lot. That was almost two years ago, and now my hair is finally back to health as I've grown out the bad bits. I'm quite happy with having natural coloured hair, with only the sun highlighting it.

I'm not too fussy about my hair, so I don't care if it isn't perfect, but it needs to be imperfect the way I like it, and on that I am very particular about. Hmm, that makes no sense, I'm contradicting myself. I am and I'm not fussy about my hair, if I spend an hour doing my hair, do not fucking touch it, if I'm having it just in a dirty mess, I don't care. But to be on the safer side, don't touch me or my hair.

LOL

I agree, a good hair day :) How's i looking today?

Yesterday I piled coconut oil and apple cider vinegar onto my head, seriously pissed off with dry scalp. Could be getting old, change in the weather, diet, whatever, it's really annoying. Today, so much better!

Today not so good, straight and knotted in the back.

Apple cider vinegar works wonders for hair, my friend uses it for his beard and it’s super soft!

Same boat. Work an hour on it, it returns to where gravity likes it in ten minutes. I've come to respect that trait - nobody has a stronger will than our hair.

I’d like to think the hair comes from a head that has a strong will also.

...a black and white photo gives that memorable touch @eveuncovered

less is more... awesome
