My niece Juliet made me proud today.

in life •  7 years ago

My brother called me up last week.

He was wondering if I would be interested to go to Juliet's ballet performance.

Juliet is my niece, owner of Bitcoin and his daughter :)

Now, I can't lie, when I heard ballet, my first instinct was to run for the exit.

But I gave it some thought and realized that for her it would be cool if Uncle Mark would show up.

I said yes.

The performance was today at 16:00.

I left my house around 15:00 because I didn't want to rush and that was the right move because it was very busy on the roads there.

I arrive 10 minutes before the start.

After parking my car I saw my sister and my mom parking as well.

In the back of the car was Sam.

I did not expect him to be there!

He was pushed into my arms straight away by my sister and we all made our way into the ballet building.

Inside we met the rest of the family.

My brother, Sanne (the mother of Juliet) her sister Fee and the star of the show. Juliet.

We were ordered to take off our shoes and make our way into ballet area.

We took our seats and my mom took this picture.

A camera was pushed into my hands by the other mom.

I was now on recording duty.

I understood my role.

We waited for the show to start.

Everyone was a bit nervous.

And then it started.

She appeared on stage with a bunch of other girls.

Concentrated and ready.

I haven't seen much ballet in my life.

But I'm pretty sure this was the best performance a 5-year-old girl has ever given in the history of ballet.

She danced with grace. Making Pirouettes with ease.

While dancing she sometimes smiled towards us like children do.

She had so much fun.

And I felt so proud of her.

Sometimes you hear parents say that they are so proud of their kids.

I never understood this before.

Because most of the time I think kids are pretty irritating.

But after today I understand a little better.

This is a great feeling.

Thank you, man!

wow that's fantastic to hear about it from you definitely a proud moment : )

Excellent walk and beautiful event. You are right, my friend, ballet is generally a beautiful sight, and when it is played by a child, and even your niece, it pleases in double and you feel a pleasant feeling for her and for yourself that you could visit this action. Thank you @exyle for sharing the pleasant moments of today!

When I took my daughter for her drivers test, I 'm pretty sure I was more nervous than she was.

I was ecstatic when she passed.

Well done to her! (was it recent?)

Thanks, It was around two years ago.

The simple things in life is what gives us great joy. The smile on a child's face when she has the love of her family supporting her is absolutely priceless and leaves an indelible mark on our hearts. You have been harpooned!

is absolutely priceless and leaves an indelible mark on our hearts

yes, very true!

Hey, I bet it was lovely to watch, proud of you being part of her audience and happy you wore the right socks.

Yeah,I was happily prepared!

Sounds like the roads are still bad there's lots of snow then? Haha what better duty is there then the camera man, yes mostly irritating glad you enjoyed it @exyle thought you was going to give it a try yourself when I saw the no shoes picture hehe.

LOL! From what I heard I'm a horrible dancer. Not that I mind, I still have fun.

Think I maybe witnessed some of that at Steemfest 2 on the 2nd night with DJ @sneak but honestly I am just as bad @exyle

But after today I understand a little better.

Yes. I did that too, about twelve years ago.

Now, i understand that completely. And it IS a great feeling.

This is an amazing story. Thank you for sharing.

hehe so cute :D Hopefully she sticks to it... it is a great hobby.

I think she signed up for more.

Such a cute little girl 😄😄😄. Dances is a very good hobby! When i was a kid, i came to the dance school and i was dancing during 15 years:)) I liked it a lot and i have no regrets about that! So i wish to this little angel to enjoy her dances and to become a famous dancer;)))

It's always so awesome to see families spending time together like this , make me miss my uncle, aunt and cousins, having a fam BBQ (In South Africa it's called a "braai" ) Awesome post @exyle :)

I know Braai! I have been to SA ones. Love it (and grilling in general).

Exyle I am super impressed at how you are able to write about the simplest stories and life experiences, and get such good engagement in this community! I admire you! Keep up the great work.

thank you.

Aw, totally awesome. My daughter is nearly five and is starting ballet! At first I was like meh, but she loves it and it is quite special to see her do it. It's a great feeling!

It's surprisingly cool!

Yah kids can be very noisy and irritating sometime, but they make a place active though, which is good i guess.

Ballet dance, girls best friend. Am sure it was fun for her.

Wow, glad you hit the road again, perhaps you already have winter tyre part fixed, good one.. :)
Kids performance is simply awesome, we would discover many more hidden talent in them, just by spending time with them, and glad you did to your niece.. and definitely your niece have been exited as uncle mark have showed up and that indeed have boast up her performance on that day.. great support.. :)

You made a fantastic post about the performance of Juliet! You are proud of her and so am I. But, I am also very proud of you!!!!

Aww! Now you're making me sad that my brother and sister live on the opposite coast from me and don't get to see our twins do stuff like that. 😔 You're an outstanding uncle for attending her recital. 😊

Aw! She's adorable! My sister wanted to be a ballerina when she was younger but she just never got into it. Now she's into bike riding! I think her bike was $1100! I couldn't believe that she bought it for that much lol!

Wow! that is an expensive bike!

Kids are amazing, they only want to play and they are full of life. She is adorable. It seem she found her passion already. Owner of bitcoin, that is probably your donation:).

Yeah that is my donation indeed :)

She's so pretty. That's so sweet of you to watch her. Proud uncle!

Thank you for sharing this @exycle! Resteemed!

wow, seeing kids perform is always good, reminds us in the time we were just thinking about the next day and play... not about the steem price ;-)

I do miss that time from time to time.

yeahhh, blijft mooi kinderen,

Woo...so cute and so sweet baby. I really like to her. You should be a proud man. Thanks for sharing @exyle.

Hi @ exyle! I am happy to finish up reading this blog! I felt the same way as you did before, I have never understood why parents say" they are proud of their kids" but when I became a teacher, I finally understood why 😍 I dont have kids, but kids always try their best ✨

Wow...cute and pretty kid...
Wonderful...@exyle I think you are one of better uncle...
Smart idea...wel done..
GOD BLESS HER...

I totally understand how you feel. We will never know or experience this feeling without giving it a try. When my sis explains her feelings towards her childrens achievements, i never understood her till i had my own son. Every steps he takes, im overjoyed! The best feeling ever.

She is so cute and you have to be the best uncle ever.

my favorite part of every gymnatics meet when I was younger was looking out into the crowd to see my proud family rooting for me! way to be an awesome uncle!! <3

@exyle,
If you understood little better about kids, I think now it's time to do a hardwork :D Make your own kid dude! You know what I mean ;)

Cheers~

Beautiful! You really should be proud :)

That is sooooo sweet Mark.. i can feel the love in your words. You really are a great uncle!

So cute! Ballet takes amazing strength and coordination I'm sure she'll grow up to be a strong woman 😇

GO AHEAD

Top-notch. Wao! Fantastic. I seriously dont think i need to wait till then to understand what @exyle went through by saying 'i'm proud of her'. Rehearsals must have been on top of the gear, unknown to you. Well discussed.

what a lovely day u had..
Juliet would be proud of u guys...

wow now that's a great moment in life it was great to know she will get more better with practice :)

Sam does indeed looks adorable and you did took the right decision to attend Juliet's ballet performance. She definitely felt great i think so.And yep nice family image ;)

the kids always look good, we just remember about the next day and the game reminds us at

Aw bless her ❤

I never understood this before.
Because most of the time I think kids are pretty irritating.

Understand your feelings. My father remarried a few years ago and had a daughter. She is now 6 years old, and I'm 29. She always invites me to some shows with her participation. And I feel an amazing feeling watching her actions. Can't even imagine what my father feels, or what I'll feel when I will have own children

This is so heartwarming! It is interesting how kids around us can change our perspective! Greetings! :-)

Cute baby ...... Nice eye ...... So sweet

I am proud of that little girl too, can understand your feeling 😊
