Today, I am once again reminded that I should consciously enjoy the time that everything is perfect.

in life •  7 years ago  (edited)

I have been in business for around 10 years now. I got hundreds of consumer clients and once in while one dies.

The first time this happened was a couple of months after I just started.

A guy called me up asking for help.

I was still so nervous about my knowledge and my ability to help back then but the guy was cool and relaxed and told me to take my time.

I solved his computer problem.

His family was also there. A wife and 3 young kids.

My niece Fee and me and the sandwich she didn't eat. We had fun!

The next time I got a call from the same address it was from his wife. Her husband died unexpectedly leaving her and 3 kids behind.

It sure did affect younger me.

It was the first time someone only I knew (and not my friends and family) passed away. It was very strange.

Today I have to go to another client. Her husband passed away (cancer) and she needs help with his tablet.

She notified me yesterday.

They have been my clients for over 7 years.

Every time this happens

Every time this happens I realize how fast things can turn to shit. One bad moment and everything changes.

Consciously enjoying the time that everything is perfect is therefore so important.

I don't know why I keep forgetting this all the time.

It seems so normal that things go well.

Events like these are a great reminder though.

Always hard and a reminder for ourselves to live life to the fullest. But I guess we all tend to forget what living is all about when we just walk around in one huge circle.

The worst thing is that it can happen to everybody - old and young , sick and healthy. So we have to remember to live life to the fullest and show our love to the people that we truly love!

Every second we have on this earth is a blessing and so very precious. It's so easy to get caught up in our daily lives and forget this as we work toward achieving our goals. Time truly is our most precious commodity and making sure to spend it with those we love is the most important way we can take advantage of the time we are allotted, for it can all be gone in an instant.

I can't remember where I heard this from, but it goes something like this, "Yesterday is gone, tomorrow is not guaranteed, right now is the most important and glorious time we will ever know, that's why it's called "the present."

Inspiring and reflective post brother! Being on holiday and away from Steemit (thought I could use the Esteem app, turned out all I could do was vote, grrrr, think it's time for a new phone.) made me see how much I enjoy and how big a part of my life it's become. You truly don't appreciate some things until they're taken away from you. Have a great day man!

I hope you had (or having) a great holiday man!

I wrote a post about this one but I was told one that 'as you get older, especially when you start breaking down, you come to the realisation that you will eventually stop working, and you slowly, and gradually ease into the acceptance of its inevitability.'

Over time the fear of death may be taken off our soldiers but we will constantly keep fearing it even prior to our death. It is an innate feeling that no one can stop as it keeps ringing in the back of your mind.

When we see people die around us we are snapped back into reality from our fantasy. We learn that our time here is short and we need to fulfil and value every second of it.

It is hard for many of us to see from a young and lively perspective that we have so much to do and of course the necessity of fearing death, is to survive for the possibility of some purpose.

To get some fulfilment out of our lives before it ends so find that satisfaction that you are craving for.

The more you decide to run away from death, in reality, all you are doing is running towards it and it is a path in which we will not be able to change. My prayers go out to your client @exyle

@exyle, I haven't posted in a while now, (almost 3 weeks) as I have been confronting a very difficult period in my life. My dad aged 82 is suffering from dementia and schizophrenia since a few months and off late things are out of hand. He has been hospitalized since last 3 weeks and it has been extremely stressful on me to say the least.

A couple of hours a friend told me that it is all Karma and payback stuff and nothing can be done about it. He said it's like any /all troubles or sufferings are a sign of Karma getting cleared and it's a good thing to happen.
Anyways, I believe I have one life, a very finite amount of time on earth, so pain or joy, just experience it as life doles it to you and get on with it. That makes life bearable. That's what I am attempting to do with my life right now.

Wow, that is very tough to deal with man, sorry to hear that. I wish you (and your dad) a lot of strength through this difficult time.

Exactly that. It's somehow so easy to take what we have for granted, until it's gone.
I do my best to remind myself of this, but I have to admit most of the time I spend on worrying about seemingly unimportant issues.

Thanks for the reminder 👊

As you all know, This is life.
Off course it is strange. We all want to live forever.
I read a book and it is stated those words that I want to share with you
"And He will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and DEATH will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed.
It is very soothing to know that.

Sooner or later in our life, we are all going to have to face the inevitability of our own death. Life is too short to worry about what others say or think . So just enjoy life, have fun, and give them something to talk about.

@exyle - You are right - sometimes it feels like it takes but one moment for somethings to change drastically. Death, of course is very unpredictable and when someone known (a close one or just an acquaintance), it affects us. I have had a jarring experience of a person playing a game opposite me drop down in the middle of a game and pass away a few minutes later when we took him to hospital... It changed my perspective on life.
Thanks for sharing your experience. Everyone needs to be reminded of living in the moment and enjoy the little joys of life.

I blog about wildlife and nature and enjoy it whenever I get a chance. Just my method of enjoying a few stress free moments

@exyle what you just shared is what most people don't like to talk about. We all have an expiration date. One of the most profound things that happened to me 18 years ago was the death of my mother. It was totally unexpected at the time but it was a real eye opener for me. I really never felt the emotions I did in life until my mom passed away. It was the FIRST time in my life when I thought about my own mortality.............I always enjoy your posts and I thank you for sharing how you were effected in your life...............Chin UP, Positive Thoughts.

I'm trying to be always positive whenever I can. Beautiful story (lesson, not sure how to word this) about your mom, I'm sure that put things into perspective for you. All the best, man.

Thank you for taking the Time to interact with those that Comment on your Posts........... @exyle

A stark reminder of the importance of presence. We only have right now, it is our only guarantee in life - hopefully we can learn to enjoy the moments as they happen, without stressing over future and passed -Here's to a fulfilling Now and a worthy Forever!

Death is unavoidable, but often you know the rate of death of male population is increasing day by day. Why this is the greatest question. Maximum no of women become widow in their early age. Why? The longevity of male and female different why? I am also a widow, my husband had died when I was 36years old. I didn't expect it, but is it my fault or fate? There are lots of things if you want I Will share it. Any way thanks for sharing such a valuable message. Thanks for the valuable supports you had done for me, wish you good luck good health and happiness, friend.

Oh. Fate is really very strange. I have a very miserable love story. From childhood, I dreamed to marry a white American husband. But at that time there's no internet, I am from poor Chinese countryside, how can I realize my crazy dream? I know people must feel very strange, why and how can a poor countryside Chinese girl dream to marry a white American?(The reason behind it is a secret.) How can she realize her crazy dream?

Who knows God really arranged for me to marry a white American later? I got to know my American husband online at first. Internet is a miracle. He told me that he just had a Chinese dream when he was a child of 10 years old.
I realized my crazy dream when I was 38 years, we married in China. Who knows my American husband passed away suddenly when I was 39 years in China?
It means that our marriage only last 1 years, he lived in China only for 15 months.
I still remember clearly that I told him I dreamt to go to US, I have waited for so many many years, I really couldn't wait to have a visit to US. He just replyed that he waited for the whole 40 years to realize his Chinese dream. I was speechless... (Before he died, he became sobre, he knew about the real Chinese society-common Chinese live a very poor life. All Americans know China is poor, only he didn't know.)
He just died in China lonely...His American family refused to come to China, dealing with his funeral. For them, China is so remote and strange. Like for common Chinese, US is too remote and strange.
Our life is like a dream!

Thanks I will also do you the same.

@exyle well said I feel to move through this process most effectively we need some bad moments alone time. This is time for we that should be free of bad moments. Why not go away for a weekend by ourself?
Or, if we can’t do that, then at least lock ourself in a room for a few hours at a time and ask your friends and family not to disturb we. And try to keep the process light and fun – enjoy it! Life is an adventure and working through this process is only one part of the journey.
I hope that by starting this adventure we’ll discover new things about yourself.
As you kick your creative brain into action, you may develop a new hobby or even become conscious of a passion that has been lying dormant within we.

I like to share one thoughts said by Jim rohan is~
“Treat your body like a temple, not a woodshed. The mind and the body work together. Your body needs to be a good support system for the mind and the spirit. If you take good care of it, your body can take you wherever you want to go, with the power and strength and energy and vitality you will need to get there.”

@exyle - We are in a cycle. We can't stop it, we can't jump out of it. The cycle bounce between birth & death. After all everything becomes memories Sir.

+W+

life is so short, we need to make the best out of it while we are still here

@exyle,
Relax bro, life is something that we can't read! Yeah it's very limited and we should use this limited time very usefully! The way you live the life I really feel respect and yeah I like it too!
Stranger things can be happened anytime, anywhere! So, we should prepare for it! All should go, yeah one day we all should go! But we have a life till that day!
Enjoy it, use it for goods, live the life as it is!

Cheers and have a nice day for you friend!

It was the first time in my family and relative that my mother had passed away of liver cancer about 3 months ago. It hurt me so much to see the pain she went through for so many months and it even hurts more to even think about the past memories. I don't know why God punish the good people i hope nobody suffers from such disease.

Cancer is a shitty disease man. I guess almost everyone has lost someone through that. Bless your, mom.

Hey man

Being in the present and enjoying what's in front of you is a good plan - this way the happy times should strongly outnumber the not so happy times.

She'll be thankful to see you today, not just to sort out the technical issues, but as a friend who knew her late husband. Hope it goes smoothly for you.

Ash

It went well. Thanks, man.

Thanks for sharing your experience with this.
Last year one of my family members got told that she had cancer. Everything was perfect before. Nobody ever thought about a topic like this and than the doctor comes and tells you this news.

After things like this you understand how lucky you are and that the most things we are complaining about are stupid things. The most important thing in life is to be healthy.

Thanks for sharing your post :)

nice post @exyle, we all should enjoy the time that everything is perfect, we all have a moment in our lives where we something happened that changed the course of our lives. Sometimes it’s a choice: to move house or stay put, and sometimes it just happens: a breakup or a death. We are all going to have a time in our lives where we look back and say that nothing would be remotely the same if it weren’t for X. It doesn’t have to be good. Sometimes it can be a terrible thing that causes a terrible turn in life events. Sometimes it can be good thing that causes a great turn in life events. thanks for sharing

i dont think i shall be hiring your services, you sound lethal! .... lol :)

I shouldn't laugh, but that was funny.

i must say that it is the part of the life, the last is the one we battle with the most. Something loathsome happens and after that months, years, or decades later we understand we wouldn't be in this extraordinary circumstance or doing this incredible thing if that shocking thing hadn't happened. Now and again it's more harmless than others: you are in a frightful pile up and it's not your blame (nobody is killed) and the protection cash enables you to put resources into building the organization you had always wanted; different circumstances feeling great prompts coerce: a best oncologist who cherishes his employment and has spared many lives, yet who never would have considered that profession way had his mom not kicked the bucket of malignancy.

“My mama always said, ‘Life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get.'”-
I don't know if we each have a destiny, or if we're all just floatin' around accidental-like on a breeze, but I, I think maybe it's both
-Forrest Gump-

I love that film, seen it many times.

You are right to live here and now, hurry to live, because tomorrow may not be. Thank you for the article.

We all have an expiry date... we must never forget this and do our best every day in everything so our living is justified.

Nice poignant post @exyle reminding us of how precious life is. Time is our only asset, use it wisely and enjoy life to the max. Let the people you care about know that you love them, every chance you get tell them how much you care :)

This is a sad story. I understand you. I had a similar story last week. It was harder than I thought.

I wonder what's going to happen to all those password manager accounts once the person managing all those passwords passes away.... I'm pretty in most cases there is only one person who knows that master password.

Hi @exyle, life is always much shorter than we make it out to be. Every moment can be perfect if you just step away from the negativity sometimes. Your post reminded me of a saying where regret lives in the past, and anxiety live in the future. We really only have now, so why not put all of our focus in the present?

I'm sorry to hear of your passing clients, but I am glad that you can see the silver lining to appreciate your life just that much more.

@shello

Life Curves. Live it, hang on, and be thankful. Fee is a beautiful little girl.

Very true, life seems to be somewhat of a rollercoaster. One moment your enjoying it in the fullest, till out of nowhere it crashes and the shitstorm comes over... Must be a weird feeling indeed, losing a client so suddenly...

it is a difficult aspect of life. I think us humans tend to keep such thoughts away, similarly to how traumas get hidden in some dark area in the brain. It's a normal human nature to avoid bad thoughts.
On another end, how's your computer business going? what do you do exactly?

Sometimes it is so easy to take things for granted. When you have an "ok" day (but nothing really happens), we think that's just an "ok" thing. It isn't. An "ok" day, where nothing good but nothing bad happens, is better than just ok!

Life is good. Enjoy it x

life can truly change in a matters of second's you never know what's coming next life is strange

Coincidentally, @surfermarly pointed me to this link this morning.

https://steemit.com/theeverydayproject/@surfermarly/the-flying-donkey-project

Work to live, don't live to work

If today was your last day, would you be satisfied?

everlasting is the never lasting..change is inevitable but yet we find it hard to admit..we know the reality..but we don't like to accept it when it comes..nice post sir..

sometimes we even forget thet things that go good that they add alot of value to our life. We need to look at the things that we think are normal and know we are blessed and be very happy with them as long as they stay in out lives :)

I try to live my life to the fullest every day. I try to be grateful for every thing that happens today and not to worry about tomorrow because tomorrow may never come, but that does not mean that I don't plan. I do. I just don't worry about it. And I always tell my family and friends how much they mean to me and that I love them every day. Tht way I have no regrets...

Your niece is too cute, you really have a good time in her company. I also become very sad when I read or hear these stories of someone passing away. But after all we all are bound by the laws of the nature.

it is a good sign for us who still live in the world. God showed a miracle to his servant that his servant always be grateful for what he has left us in the world. always grateful and giving.

So sad !
Its law of nature and god !
Lets live for today and make a beautiful day .

Great enjoy.love it.i resteem your post for more earning.best of luck

Tough situation. I don't know how i would handle something like that and i hope i never will.
