Last year December, I read a thread on twitter made by a popular Nigerian writer Ekiette, the post was coated with the use of satire, and savagery, yet I learnt from it. It had to do with time management and procrastination. Here is the story the lady shared in the thread. Her parent went out a particular day and told her to make a local soup. Instead of making the soup after her parent’s departure, she played with her siblings because she believed they would stay longer that expected. Perhaps, she felt she could cover up and make the soup in few minutes like she had a magical wand.
I know you are curious, if she cooked the soup before her parent’s arrival. Yes, she did. She said, immediately she heard her dad’s car honking at the gate, she ordered her siblings to arrange the house and she zoomed into the kitchen to cook. Then her parents came into the house, and her mother asked if the soup was ready. She cooked up a story to cover up foe her lackadaisical attitude. At the end of it, the soup was ready 15 minutes later, and it tasted totally different because she got the timing all wrong.
Procrastination simple put is avoiding a task that needs to be accomplished.
Procrastination is a battle everyone fights daily and it can only be conquered by discipline and commitment because we love to do things our way.
