The Magic Of The Bathroom Singer: The Right Way To Believe Your Own Hype.

How often do you believe your own hype?

And how blindly do you follow through?

To be honest, I can't wait to start making videos but let's make do with the text we've got for now.

I'm almost certain that at some point in our lives, we've at least hummed to a song in the bathroom. There are many of us (yes myself included) that actively sing in the bathroom to the cheering of our numerous fans right there in our heads.

Our voices sound just like our favorite musicians and sometimes a lot better. We feel every moment and take in all the glory, basking in the spotlight.

But it's all hype (99% of the time) and sadly, contrary to popular advice, some of us start to believe our own hype and that's when trouble starts.

We now believe we have the ability to wow people with our sonorous voice just because we wowed a few people who managed to hear us sing in the bathroom. They cheer us on and swear on their lives that we've got the best voices they ever heard.

Contrary to our expectations, the outside world claims we have very terrible voices and we begin to wonder what went wrong. It's very simple!

It's all about the environment!

I've discovered that the the hard wall surfaces, and lack of soft furnishings, create an aurally pleasing acoustic environment.

The multiple reflections from walls enrich the sound of one's voice. Small dimensions and hard surfaces of a typical bathroom produce various kinds of standing waves, reverberation and echoes, giving the voice "fullness and depth. - Wikipedia

This brings out the importance of the statement "all things being equal".

Success might just not be easily replicated without taking into consideration the peculiarities of the different environments.

What Can You Do?

Think about it. How can you transfer the magic of the bathroom singer to the big stage?

  • Take note of the peculiarities of the environment you find yourself.

I've had to do this a lot while growing up due to the fact that I changed schools often. There was always that period of getting to know and adjusting to the new school, its rules, and the students. It's a very important step.

  • Find ways to recreate the type of atmosphere you need to succeed.

You've got more powers and abilities than you give yourself credit for. You have every right to craft the environment into the form that'll be suitable for you. Once you've noted the peculiarities and known what's missing, all you've got to do is bring in the missing pieces.

These two stupidly simple steps is sure to get you on the right path.

The bathroom singer always sounds so nice because she's in a favorable environment.

If you're going to believe your own hype, then please make sure you create the exact same environment everywhere you go!
