3 big influences on my life

in life •  7 years ago  (edited)

In this post I want to share 3 things which had a very big and positve impact on my life so far. There are many, many others of course which influenced me in a good or bad way but you need to start somewhere, right?

Death :
Like probably most people in their 30s I have encountered death a couple of times in my life.

I had to grief for friends and family members, but probably nothing hit me like the suicide of my father.

In a weird way death is a good thing to encounter. It ripped me out of my state of mind, showed me nothing is forever or I should take it for granted.

A reminder that we are not here forever and should make our stay here count.

After every death of sombody close to me, I could not help myself but took a very close look at my life.

The everyday routine got me sooner or later again, but I never felt so thankful or full of fire to fulfill my dreams after encountering death.

Sport :
In my early 20s I was big on Muay-Thai. But I had also my ups and downs with it. There were times I trained 4-5 times a week and times I did not train for months.

But I noticed how I was way happier when I went training regular and consistent.

I know this is something I have to battle with a lot : concestincy and not 1 week of throw myself totally in it and than do nothing again for the next 3 weeks.

Traveling :
My first big travel was with 23 when I went to Thailand by myself to train Muay Thai for 6 weeks. This was probably the best time in my life and the reason why I am here again.

The people I have met, the training, the view on the world outside of my usual fishtank, it all changed my view on life and my dreams to this day.

This post is also a test. I will throw every booster I know at it, to see how much this will influence the success of the post.(messed it up already....)

Sorry to hear about the loss of your father. That must have been real tough!

Thank you

It was some years ago already but yes... had better times but life goes on :-)

Wow i cannot describe the picture. It speaks itself. Beuatiful stages of life that we should always cherish no matter what. And i am sorry to hear that. I personally feel that we should be happy and live in the moment! Then nobody can betray us or let say when we are strong nothing can chase us. I love your content. Thank you so much for sharing with us. Much love from my side 💜

Thanks a lot for the kind words.

Yes, living in the moment is important but sometimes hard.

Im deeply touched with your post, thank you for sharing with us.I'm very sorry you had to lose your dad,I can only imagine how hard it was for you..You are right, traveling and training make us feel so much better,it changes us,make the mind clear, make us look at things differently.

yes, combining both was like heaven :-)

happy you like the post

I could also add them in the top10 of the influences in my life, besides family, good relationships and freedom. :)

yes, there are a lot you could add there.

Of course! I mentioned only the one that matter most to me :)

Very nice post buddy. Very touching and down to the core.

We don't open up so often here on Steemit, but when people do I appreciate it.

Death can definitely be something that can jolt us into taking taking action and making sure that we do something with our life.

If there is nothing bad in life there is nothing good, if there is no sadness there won't be any happiness, there has to be a contrast in order for us to be able to see things clearly and to appreciate life.

thanks man :-)

Yes, there needs to be some balance and you can even find good in death.

That is true I completely agree with you ! I had a very close call once and it completely changed my life. It was a skiing accident where I went off a cliff. No one saw me fall off, and no one could here me calling for help... anyways long story short. I almost lost my leg and was told I would not be able to run again. 1 year later I was jogging, and another 6 months later I was in the shape of my life and also I felt on top of the world .

That is great to hear man.

Did it last though?

Myself I tend to fall off after reaching new heights which annoys me a lot about myself.

This high lasted for Maybe two years, but it was a good two years for sure. But yea I guess the worst thing we do sometimes is to not accept that life doesn't only go up.. It naturally has to go down sometimes. Some people start fighting it when we feel that we are going down. I think we have to let it happen naturally. It will be faster, maybe a bit more painful. But I believe in ripping the bandage off quickly.

Some people use drugs and alcohol to try to keep feeling this high and we know how it usually ends..

I don't think you should be annoyed about this fact, it's the same for all of us, but after a dip we can continue our way higher again

we are like Bitcoin :-)

Haha yea you are absolutely right :)

Great post!

I believe people that have trained a lot in periods need training. It is almost like a drug. You get a bodily high, after training, witch is hard to get in other ways.

Sex will do it, but thats half way training :-/

Yes, training was kind of an addiction at some point. Atm it is a mix of struggle and looking forward to it. But I remember when I was in better shape it was really addictive and I was looking forward to get this great feeling after training.

Good influences. I would say 1 and 3 are influences in my life too, and possibly 2, if workout out is considered a sport lol

I would say so :-)

brings you a lot of benefits also and depends how strict you are requires a lot of discipline also.

Sorry for the loss of your father like that, that's tough :(

I find consistency is a one of those key things for me in many aspects of life. Probably most noticeable in business because people respond very positively to that trait. I try to start off small with anything to then "build" into a consistent routine instead of going all out then sort of falling short long term.

Hope you are enjoying Thailand again I would love to go there and try the food. I have heard many good things about the country but think I would die from heat lol

Yes, I think concistentcy is important in almost every aspect of life, especially in business.
Unfortnately it is not one of my strength but hopfully will be in the future :-)

You get somewhat used to the heat and the food is defenitly worth a trip and then you also have great nature and a great culture to explore.

You have such a wonderful life friend. I am 23 myself and my dream is to travel, yet I'm stuck living in a poor country so its quite hard to make mints meat here.
Also I've had around 3 near death experiences throughout my spiritual practices and it really changes life.

which practise brought you to a near death experience?
